Right everyone, need some advice on speakers, I need some new ones and I don't really have a clue what to get. The budget isn't huge but I'd rather invest in quality than buy shitters and have to buy again in 6 months...

I'm after some bedroom speakers for the decks, they have to be crystal clear sound quality not that bothered about how loud as long as I can crank em to an acceptable level without distortion if that makes sense...?

I'd rather them be good quality so I can hear my mixes properly without having to turn them up so loud my ears bleed!

Someone one here suggested the KRK Rokit 5's, they look cool but I was just wondering what other peoples views / experiences are... :)

I have a pair of Mackie HR624's and they're ace. They're active so you should be able to plug them directly into your mixer.

Got the same as Tim and they really bring the detail out in your tunes. Even the bass is musical:cool:

They're small speakers though, so you aren't gonna get mega bass out of them. Took me a while to adjust to the loss after going from much bigger speakers, but the detail and clarity is what they're about and they're far less likely to annoy your neighbours given that it's heavy basslines that travel 100's of metres, not the higher frequencies.

They're studio monitors and you only hear what the artist recorded for good or bad  not the aesthetically pleasing but less natural sounds of hifi speakers.

They're 350 quid each, so might be out of your budget unless you can find em cheaper on ebay:S

I have a pair of these there pretty good. I got them to replace a pair of Samson speakers i had. My only gripe i have with them is that there a bit lacking in bass due to the 5" sub. If you like a bit more bass id recommend finding a speaker with a bigger sub. Either that or buy the studio sub woofer Rockit makes to make up for it. Also i use them solely for my decks and theres been a few time where ive got carried away and ive felt like im gonna blow them.
The Samsons i had were excellent apart from one thing. They seem to have this standby mode where if the volume went under a certain level for a period of time they would power down until you put a high'ish volume through them. I found this really annoying with them when i was producing tracks etc. Apart from that the sound was miles better (more hi-fi like) than the KRK's.
My other speakers are a set of Genelecs 8040A'sphones: . Now they are a set of speakers. I absolutley love them. One of the best things i ever bought

I got a pair of Alesis M1 Mk2 Actives about 3 years ago and have not looked back. I got mine 2nd hand from a have a go dj who got a whole set up following a holiday to Ibiza and found DJ'ing is a little more than just buying the equipment.

They sound great and can be cheap....mine boxed as new £70!!

Link for more info (I hate HTFR but they came up first and give the info needed)
