Spherical vs Elliptical stylous for high quality 12'' rips

any suggestions from the board would be great...all these years i'm using Ortofon DJ S/Audacity software but not satisfied with the end result...

sound forge is my advise its very good I only use it to clean my live sets up to upload to mixcloud but its bloody good

Elliptical will give a better sound return but more fragile

I suspect this...so i have to replace the Ortofon DJ S with an elliptical just for recording purpose....
