Hi all,

I've got myself into one of those situatins where I really shouldn't have and now somebody is expecting me to prepare them a web site with a database that is connected to an SQL server. :( :( :( :( :( :(

Now I have got no idea... well I have a faint idea on SQL but have no idea how to write the connection string to the server...

Does anyone know or does anyone know where I can look so I can teach myself???

Thanks guys...

what are you trying to do exactly mate?

cos youll probs find a lot of the stuff, like this forum for example, you only need to amend a couple of details in the config file and create the database which is piss easy providing u have mysql access and it does the rest for ya

It's pretty straight forward, you need to know the data source name ie what name the database is registered as and server address. If you're using something wizzy like Dreamweaver I'm sure it will have a connector wizard type thing in it.

I've got the datbase designed it's the actual string to connect the asp page to the sql server so it can pull the info out of the database.

Also I am using Dreamweaver... I've asked the web host what the connection string is but I ain't heard anything yet!! I even sent em the code I had done and asked them what was wrong with it!!!
