stupid question about Technics headshells

hi i bought my first pair of technics decks a couple of weeks ago to replace a set of numark TT500. The technics were second hand off ebay but the original headshells had never been used. when my new decks arrived, i was too excited to mess about with head shells so just used the old numark ones. i dismantled one of the old ones last night to transfer the cartridge (ortonfon pro s) but i couldnt get the ends of the wires on the technics head shell on to the pins of the cartridge. the metal bits on the ends of the wires seem too narrow. has anyone else had this problem??

Advice from the experts on here would be very welcome.

As I can remember I think I had to open the spade ends slightly to install my old Ortofons about 10 years ago. Easy fix though and make sure you align the styli correctly with the technics alignment tool.

hi simon, thank you so much for your reply. i wondered if that might be the way to go. will try at the weekend when i'm feeling patient as it looks like its gonna be really fiddly to do.
