Went a couple of years ago, absolutely jam packed couldnt move

Music was alright, a mix of everything in the last 10 years, altho it was a bit up and down. Atmos was excellent, few nobs in there, the usual

Quite a dressed up crowd

The venue is brilliant, like a big mansion, dont know how they blagged em to use it for events

Its in Yarm, easy to find, just off the m-way

Played both the Millenium NYE and the year after for Retro , both were good nights but not been up there for a long while now to be honest !!

Johns_ar and co would probably be best to answer this one ..

we used to make the trek up regularly, was shit hot at first about 2/3 years back ..... we'd always have a top night, but since jay floyd and rick stopped playin it seemed to go abit downhill, and you would never get the variety of 'old-skool' that you once did .....

will always be jammed that place thou and was always a top night out, especially if you stayed over in the 5* hotel ...... but ive heard a lot of reports of people with bad attitudes, and some volence over the past few months so it hasnt been very appealing to us ......

been the last two new years eves, the first of which was excellent the last not so much, as they had the idea of playin the top 30 tunes from 2002 which wasnt really our cup of tea (IMO they wernt the top 30 tunes anyways, not by a long shot) .... also me getting a good hiding when i got back home the same night from some t*ats didnt make the overall night any the better either:mad:, but thats beside the point hehe but undoubtedly you will get a good night there mate, as if you have never been before you will be bowled over by the place ...... it is one awesome club for sure .......

althou i havent been to a 'retro' for ages now, so i cant really comment .... these comments (taken from the retro message board) seem to sum up what is happening at retro:

I have to agree that the music has changed a touch at retro.I can understand that Retro needs new tunes to keep the Punters interested as everyones musical taste is different. But lets not forget the tunes that put retro on the map to start with. TAIKO-Echo Drop/BROTHERS LOVE DUBS/PIERRE FEROLDI-Moving Now/SLD-Getting Out/SOFT HOUSE Co-What You Need. Thats just a few tunes that havent been heard in a while. It seems that there are not many Hands in the air Piano Breakdowns any more.It would be Good to hear em again. Not every week just now and again.

Havent heard that for a while but he did play it at TT the other week and it got a good responce.. Paul why oh why dont ya start playing these old classics again!! the crowd love em. its starting to get to me why ya play these mash ups!! come on. Like Insomnia the people love it and go wild but when ya put stuff like flauntin it djs - 2 fat it not the same..put the orignal on whats matter with 2 fatt guitars..top tune..ya do need to put mash ups on..yeah some are good but others aint a patch on the orignals. This is why people come to Retro to hear old classics in there orignal state...Sorry about the moan but i just had to say it. and im sure alot of people feel the same way.

one of the main reasons we stopped going as much too was the lack of emphasis on classic house music .... it was all good at first, but then things seemed to start changin a little ......

still sayin all this ... you will hear classic anthems and will probs have a top night there mate:)
