Technics 1210 Mk2 tech help required

Ive just got my 13 yr old 1210 decks all wired up today after they have been in storage for a few years.

I have problem with one of the decks when i cue a record , when i pull back the arm jumps a few gooves back making it impossible. I think the problem is with the round sleeve which you tighten to hold your needle/cartridge headshell in that it moves side to side slighly and seems loose. There are 2 tiny screws underneath the arm but its hard to see what type of screw they are .
It looks like ill need to remove the arm to tighten these up ?

Any ideas or experience with this problem ?

Cheers

It could be the gimble type thing, (the pivoting two direction thing). I havent technics, but I know they tend to be held with grubscrews or setscrews on some of it, so if they are slack or missing entirely, then that may be why they are so sloppy and not rigid enough on the side movement.

If its the headshell connection and deffo the needle portion and not the back where the bubble is, there should probably be a little rubber washer at the back of the headshel spindle, and probably a small pin that sticks up on the top which is screwed rather crudely into the sort of acme type threaded collar that draws it back tight to the arm. Make sure the actual cart screws are tight under the headshell etc too.

As far as I know, the little scew just back from the screw collar under neath the arm is to hold the contact feature plate in that the cart meets upto once screwed in. The collar should be a bit sloppy when theres no cart in.

Other than that, I dunno :S
