I tried the Vestax one's once or twice & hated 'em lol! Found 'em really hard work, don't know what it is but i could not for the life of me get em to beat match! Give 'em a touch to slow it down & it went too far, give a push & it went completly the other way, so never gave em another chance after that :S

I remember reading a story a while back about a top Dj (can't remember who) pulling 'em out the deck stand & slinging 'em after turning up to a gig & they were the decks set up for the do! Says it all really.

Must admit the build quality if fine! They are pretty solid, better than they look, it's the way they work i don't like.

Stanton, stanton, stanton i says lol! (STR8-150's)

Always had Technics, but I'm gonna change this time to the Vestax PDX2300 Mk II Pro's (in fact I may even be buying a pair today!).

Most people are too set in their ways to contemplate switching now. Technics are the industry standard - and that carries a lot of weight with peoples descision making, but if Stantons where there with Technics in the beginning, things might be different now.

On paper Stantons are technically better and for somebody starting out who hasn't got used to the feel of Technics, they might feel better, but I guess for the time being with Technics total dominance of the club set ups, aspiring dj's should choose 1200's/1210's.

The worlds greatest turntablist however uses Vestax - because he's sponsored by Vestax - and they aren't restricting his creativity ;)

You do have to give it a bit of time to adjust your technique, took me a few goes to suss 'em. With the motor being do strong you don't have to do so much 'pushing & pulling' like ya do on a technics i found, actually had to tell myself to hold back from doing it all the time like i was normally used to doing, you can just move the pitch & it's upto speed in a millisecond.

Anyhows think i've said enough on this subject, an gonna stop now! lol! Each to thier own like they say.

People were payed alot of money to say things like this...Even the Disc in Bradford were offered deals to plug the decks, and people fall for it too!!!! jesus lets be honest here, its got to be technics hasnt it.. club standard and will be forever. why change now to any other deck when the technics is fine, "if it aint broke dont fix it" line springs to mind

second best for me are vestax, they aint that bad..iv spent alot of time on some of them when they had them at the radio station i used to play on, then they got technics too...

Stanton is just a technics wannabe i always think..and the motors on them are all wrong...

What is the point in this thread anyhow, it will jus carry on forever and we will never all agree..lol

Settling for a turntable just because it's been there forever is just standing still from a progress perspective IMO and if people didn't at least test all turntables available then come to their own conclusions, then Technics don't have to even try to improve their turntables. They can just sell them for a premium while other companies are pushing forward the technology. So can you at least say what is wrong with them instead of just writing them off without an explaination? :S

From Coggledots explaination they sound superior to Technics, as DJ mag claims!

What is wrong with the motors then............they sound superior for torque and stability?:)

I aint tried the Stantons but they are supposedly very good indeed.

Iv tried vestax and they are a very good deck. fact. Iv had my Technics for nearly 10 years and I cant recommend them enuff.

Im sure all 3 decks are without doubt top notch phones: ... and its gonna be a matter of personaly preference ;)

What I will say about Technics though is theyre unbelievably reliable and have stood the test of time. The other 2 might do but if you wanna play safe go with Techincs and you cant go wrong.

Buy em 2nd hand and they dont really depreciate too :)

But the thing is...do technics need to improve their decks??? think not really, all companys like stanton do is try ram their decks with poinless features to make them look special when really its just a waste of time, i have heard the motors are too powerfull thus making them not so great to use,and i must admit they feel horid (this is just my opinion bear in mind!!!!) and do you really need more stability than a technics, come on man these have been used for 20 odd years by the worlds best jocks hehe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have tried all 3 of these decks and i feel the technics are the better of the 3 still, its all well and good someone compairing a 15 year old technics thats been hammerd to death to a brand new stanton, of course the stanton will be more stable(but will it be when its had the same amount/years use?), compair a brand new technics and im sure ud have a easy winner..like i said before, this is a waste of time argument, best thing to do really is to keep yout trusted technics, and save your money for a cdj...
when it comes to reliability and strength you cannot beat a technics, NO Way

But at the end of day, the choice as they say is yours..

Ok that's fair enough:thumbsup: but writing something off without an explaination doesn't help keep it in perspective.

I'd at least check out the Stantons though if I come to replacing mine, especially if they're quite a bit cheaper than the Technics and i'm not sure how having more torque can be a bad thing:)

I don't think it's a waste of time discussing the options though.....it's far better than a tune poll which doesn't really prove anything at the end of the day except people have different tastes in music;)
