Hi, can anyone tell me if TFT monitors are better for the eyesight and general health of computer users?.

Seeing as I can sometimes spend over 16 hours a day at one, sometimes all week long at this volume with work and then home all night, I was wondering that alongside trying to cutdown my computer usage whether TFT screens are healthier for you. Im not sure what it goes off these days, is it radiation emmitions, flickering of the CRTube etc, does TFT solve these worries?. My eyesight is declining on probably a 6 month interval, and Im convinced that computers have been a majot contributor to this. :(. When I was on the shopfloor at work I had slightly under par eyesight, but as soon as I went in the flourescent light lit offices working on old monitors and then having to get a computer at home to learn computing and spending a lot of time on them it has made me blind as a bat. It may be unrelated, but I was thinking of buying a 17" TFT if I see one on offer and maybe do myself a favour healthwise.

Cheers chaps

Sirius.

ps, no wanking jokes please, the cock snot is probably only minimal to blame lol.

So faster flicker rates are better for you?. Or is there a certain flicker rate that is in sync with the human eyesight?
The screens we have at work are about 9 years old (Sony) and two of them have a green logo on saying reduced radiation emmisions or something......so I figure that being sat 12-20 inches away fom radiation isnt a good idea for long periods of time on a regular basis! lol.

Im not sure how TFT's work, do they still work of the principle of burning the screen like CRT's and therefore may have similar radiation rates, or should I be looking at the more pricier LCD screens to eliminate any concerns?

Its just an idea, so when I see a bargain Im hopefully gonna get one. So for the minute I want to be over the 100mhz arena, the higher the better?

Cheers

Sirius.

Thanks Myk  Is there anything you dont know? lol. Thats great. So a TFT or LCD is better than a CRT, and a high flicker rate is the best :D.

My eyes are gonna thank you one day, when i muster the money to buy a new monitor that is! 17"'s are allegedly good value nowadays though from wha Ive heard, but perhaps the high refresh rate are the more dearer ones - I wondered how they could get away with an extra 150 quid between manufacturers of same sized screens, lol. Ah well, thats what Im gonna look into, a 17 or 19" high refresh/flicker rate monitor and the next time I see one thats a bargain, Im gonna have to try and find the fundage for it.....along with my new decks I want, a few speakers, new telly and TV card....lol. One thing at once I think!

Thanks bud

I've just been given 2 17" flats at work and so far they do seem a bit easier on the eyes - shit for graphics though (and thats what I use them for). I guess the more you spend, the better quality you get??!!
