-Idiot Story-
An 18-year-old man in a drunken stupor on railroad tracks while a train
drove over him, passing inches above his head. A bit later the teenager
woke up and walked away.
The inebriated young man was lucky to pass out length-wise on the tracks
before an 82-ton motorized train hurtled over him at 120 kph (75 mph).
Less than 20 centimeters (7.8") separate the bottom of the locomotive
from the railroad ties.
"I don't remember a thing," the man told the daily VG. A small cut on
the chin, a few scrapes on one arm and a hole in the front of his shirt
are the only visible signs from his encounter with a passenger train.
Train personnel said it was a miracle that the youngster emerged from
the incident with hardly a scratch. They feared the worst when they
suddenly saw a body lying on the tracks but had no possibility to stop
the train.
