What are your opinions ?

Here's mine

1. Liverpool (just because of more success over the years)
2. Man Utd
3. Aston Villa
4. Arsenal
5. Everton

Think your slightly bias having Villa up there, they might be having their best season this year, (albeit with scrappy wins) but they haven't achieved much in the last decade, so to call them a top club (and to put them 3rd) would IMO be totally wrong. Today proved it tbh, didn't look like winning the game, Petrov shoulda gone for the handball, but thats football.

I'd have:

Man Utd (Only because of their consistency)
Arsenal (They had a few good seasons but have tailed off lately)
Chelsea (Have won a few pieces of silverware over the recent years)
Liverpool (Might be champions of Europe, but have yet to prove domestic prowess, this is probably their closest premiership challenge to date)
Everton (Most consistent top 6 finishers over the last 5 years)

Would probably have Newcastle then Villa 6th and 7th respectively, after that would be anyones.

You've got be fucking kidding - when have Newcastle last done anything EVER ?? And yet they still claim to be a big club...

Chelsea have no fucking heritage, certainly not as rich as Villa's... just coz Abramavitch has brought himself a new toy to play with doesn't make them a big club... they are London's biggest NCP carpark in waiting...

Same can be said for Villa then:

when have Newcastle last done anything EVER ?? What have Villa done? As said, they are having a good season, but not by great football, not by no means, own goals, scrappy one nil wins, lets see what happens against a proper top club.

Lerner is doing well with his toy, he's bankrolled a few good high valued signings, not as high as Chelsea, but he ain't as rich as Abramovitch, still done some though.

League Champions 1981/2
European Champions 1982
League Cup winners 1994
League Cup winners 1996
FA Cup runners up 1999

In recent history like...

Villa started the FA League as we know it :p

Along with these 11 others

Accrington
Aston Villa
Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers
Burnley
Derby County
Everton
Notts County
Preston North End
Stoke
West Bromwich Albion
Wolverhampton Wanderers

So by your reckoning, these are also 'top' clubs

Both Everton and Arsenal have won more than Villa, yet you put Villa above them? As said, you are bias in your opinion :p

Ha ha. I love an argument about football me. Can't help having my 2p here.

As a Villa fan, I've got to be fair and say that in recent history (i.e. Premiership years) we'd just about scrape top 5 with a couple of league cup wins and UEFA cup campaigns.

But in the history of football we've achieved loads and got a great tradition and that's what makes us a big club. Unlike Newcastle who still bang on about the Fair's Cup (like anyone's bothered!). Just because they manage to get 55,000 halfwits all in the same place on a Saturday afternoon to watch complete shite does not make them a big club by any means.

Chelsea annoy me aswell. When were they anywhere close to competing for anything before Abramovich opened his wallet??

We're above Villa in the list of clubs people talk shite about, that's for sure

End of day, everyone's entitled to their own list and their own opinion, because it's all about how you determine size of club.

However...

Newcastle v Villa
Played - 148
Won - 64
Drawn - 31
Lost - 53

List was not for size though, there is no doubt Newcastle and Sundeland are large clubs when you look at some of the other clubs in the premiership. If it is success (as I took the thread to be about) then Villa top both in recent years.
