Bang Out Of Order Apologies to 2 funky 2 fans but....just been perusing ebay and I spotted the following for sale “ASHA 'JJ Tribute' (2 Funky 2 old skool riff)”. The seller, someone called ibizajim, gives the following in the description: “London Records 1995 Samples the piano riff 'Brothers & Sisters' by 2 Funky 2 (1991) - You'd know it when you hear it!” No, no, no, no, nooooooo. I can see where this bloke is coming from with the dates – but to think that JJ Tribute samples Brothers & Sisters is very, very wrong. It’s not ibizajim’s fault. The blame quite clearly lies with 2 funky 2. I never liked the track – apart from the quite blatent rip off involved, I always found the tune too much of a Ritzy track – “you’re the best thing I ever, blah, blah, blah” just shut up love. 2 funky 2 should have put a disclaimer on all releases – “THIS SONG IS A BLATENT RIP OFF OF THE MUCH BETTER JJ TRIBUTE BY ASHA” – or words to that effect. The lack of disclaimer leads to this type of confusion. As such 2 funky 2 should burn in hell along with Take That (for covering Relight My Fire). Had to get that off my chest.
