I love the smell of certain library books- all musty and old. A bonus, albeit diminishing in frequency is if you get others notes on the side of text- preff in a poetry book. I love reading what other people make of something. I bought a book last year from a second hand bookshop called Lake Wobegone Days (Garison Keller), the book is supposed to be excellent. I bought it, however as i was seduced by a dating made in pencil - 10th September 1991. Also inside, (and the biggest gift of all) was a uni shopping list, handwritten and still there after all this time. Pens, notepads, new socks, deodorant. I loved seeing this little bit of someone else's history, and enjoyed wondering whom it belonged to and what they had become. I quite like cutting into something like a piece of fruit and knowing that i am the first person to see its innards. Lol sounds daft but sometimes as i pop it in my gob i feel sad that i will always be the only person too. That pattern and colour is so unique it seems wasted. I like asking Jonno about his childhood, what games he liked to play, food he ate etc. I could (and do) listen for hours about when he was little. I find it fascinating. I love creaky stairs, ours is the second from the top. It feels like home.
