Now I find some Oldskool tunes impossible to mix. I'll admit it and tell you that the more likely reason is I can't mix lol. What tunes though are impossible to mix?

I've got loads of old funk, boogie, disco etc tunes that are nigh on impossible to mix because the tempo isn't constant due to the live drumming. Tunes that are in an awkward key are the same because it's torture to the ears when the keys clash badly:cry:

I've got records that jump at awkward times too, then there's the sasha mixes that have odd numbers of bars that you have to count in beforehand to find out where the optimal place is to drop the record without it kicking in too early or too late:$

Strings Of Life for me changes tempo after breaks so you have to mix it before that point quickly, caught me out when i was younger anyway just learning. not played it for a while only as an end of nighter may do a mix with it for a set opener and see what happens :D

can't think of anymore of top of my head :S

Took the words out of my mouth there Jim! Its nigh on impossible with 99.9 % of this stuff to mix it, you have to be quick! Find the right place to drop the buggers or find a tune with a nice spare start! Trouble is with most of this stuff it just fades out very quickly at the end not leaving much scope. Got my work cut out for me on the run up to April :$

Yep and you're a damn sight better at it than me, who tries to mix most of them  :$

This electro classic 12'' caught me out big time when I tried to mix it on the radio here once, thanks to it's sloppy beats [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f46Z7y3bv4U]YouTube - B+ - B-Beat Classic[/ame]

It means you can't mix it in or out without it sounding like a train wreck :$

Some tricky 1s, Air Of Gloom - Meditation, FX - Tape Path, Friends Of Matthew - Out There, Plez - Can't Stop .............M

top choices

air of gloom i just play from the start... 'Out There' isnt so bad but you gotta find the right place and time for it cos its one of those tunes that when it gets dropped it sounds like you have slowed the tempo down, even tho you havent:crazy: does that make sense!?
