Anyone who has been on record promo mailing lists will no that for every upfront gem you get, you also receive about 6 peices of utter dirge. I was on the mailing lists 95-2002 and have only just got around to having a good clear out. Some of the records I have managed to sell up on the 'bay - one man's sh*t is another man's shinola - however I still have about 350 records that I really do not want. They take up valuable shelf space and they do nothing for your credability when your mates come around and find a stack of cher and shania promos!

So my question is - what should I do with all these unwanted slabs?

One idea is to split out the 'better' ones (trancey positiva stuff) and sell it as a job lot on ebay, maybe even do the same with the whitney/cher bundles, but to be honest I don't know whether I can actually be 4rsed!

Do HTFR still take job lots at 50p/unit? Does anywhere else? Should I just make a lot of frisbees? Should I have it formed into a coffin ready for my 'final set in the sky'?

All suggestions or offers grately received!

Cheers,
Simon

List can be found here.

to be honest i'd list them all on ebay in one job lot of say bundles of 50 without the titles, just put
50 x 12" house / trance promo's & test presses
don't bother with a discription, you'll get more given that list!!!, put a couple of the record labels as tasters, positiva etc

and you'll get more money, personally I don't think i'd take one of them off you unless you sold them for 5p each (and i'd trade them in....but then feel really guilty peddling crap!!!)

No way did Ant and Dec do more than "lets get ready to rumble".....I'm impressed lol

I'm actually sat right opposite a record shop now that sells pop and random cack...

It's called Sifters 0161 4458697. I'm sure old Mr Sifter would buy them off ya, or at least some of them. Dont know if he'll give you much for them though as he only selld his 12" for about £1/£2

But it's worth a try

Just a quick edit to say, if you decide to give them away like, I'll have Aliyah - need a resolution and Mary J Blige - No more Drama

Where in Manc are you from? Sifters is on Fog Lane, off Kingsway (A34) Didsbury/Burnage area. It's not that big, but every now and then you find something that takes your fancy. If you're into Indie, old rock or old soul then you're buzzin

(lol Mr Sifter better sort me out with discount after all this business plugging :p )

Shakermaker

I'd like to be somebody else and not know where I've been
I'd like to build myself a house out of plasticine
Shake along with me
I've been driving in my car with my friend Mr. Soft
Mr. Clean and Mr.Ben are living in my loft
Shake along with me!

I'm sorry but I just don't know
I know I said I told you so
But when you're happy and you're feeling fine
Then you'll know it's the right time
It's the right time
To shake along with me!

Mister Sifter sold me songs
when I was just sixteen
Now he stops at traffic lights
but only when they're green

Nice one Mizzy, will check it out next time i'm down that way, hopefully before dodgy mix gets everything hehe:thumbsup:
