Im thinking of investing in some CD decks, is it possible to convert my Vinyl to MP3 (300 kps +) then burn to CD but quality would be as good as the record? any help?

Quality would not be as good as the record but it would be better than any cd's you buy!

You could convert your vinyl to WAV, but would need plenty of space.

Also, and this is a biggie - it takes bloody ages

Record your vinyl into your pc mate using a software,

I use Soundforge 8 for mine, then you could do with cleaning it up, ie, take out the pops & crackles etc, an easier way is to pop it into steinberg clean & use the auto settings, they are top banana for cleaning your files

Then you want to save it as an mp3 at the quality of your choice :)

Gis a shout on pm if ya need any programs

Many newer / decent CD decks will play MP3s - mine do (Denon DNS 5000) but it tends to handle the file poorer than when it is burnt with just say 12 audio tracks. Therefore I use a CD with about 12 tracks burnt rather than 100 mp3s ;)

Iv recorded many of my tracks as wavs now but there is definately a difference between sound. Its strange but I can tell the difference between analogue and digital.

A perfect example is that I have a mint copy of this:

http://www.discogs.com/release/136030

and also have the CD release of both mixes on this:

http://www.discogs.com/release/215882

(Worth gettin if you have CD decks)

and if I ripped it as a wav from my vinyl I am 100% confident that if I played all 3 I would be able to tell which was the rip, vinyl & original CD

I aint saying there is anything negative about a wav rip - it just alters the 'feeling' of the sound

I currently use Pioneers CDJ 1000 mk 2 which wont play mp3 as pioneer are money grabbing bummers (*see below), i play it in Wave format and the quality is as loud if you do it right, (compaired to old records) soundforge 8 is what i use, you can rid the nasty crackles etc

Mp3's dont sound too great loud in a club, you will loose lots of quality, so you are best doing wave if you can.......

I use the cdj for playing new music and music i have/people i know have produced

have thought about rippin all my tracks to cdr but its just the time i dont have, but when i go play abroad im deffo only taking cd's as easy to carry

*The MK3 pioneer cdj 1000 plays mp3 as does the cdj800 mk2
