Warped Vinyl

Can anyone help?

Is it possible to flatted warped vinyl? I've heard that if you place a towel over your vinyl and apply heat from an iron it can straighten out those annoying twists

But before i start ironing me classic tunes does anyone know if this is the case or not?

Any advice on this would be much appreciated.

BAD idea..........


Somebody once told me to carefully clamp it between two flat sturdy boards (with a thick towel sandwiced each side first) and put it in a low heat area of the airing cupboard. A hell of a lot of my classic tunage is warped I am still seething over it), but my airing cupboards that full, Ive *never* managed to try it yet. BUT DONT get the iron out man, it will trash it.


Better do some more investigating first, dont take my word on what to do 'cos I havent tried it yet. If you find a good method I'd be very,very,very,very, interested to hear how you managed it...........

I agree with Sirius, get 2 BIG Encyclopedias, put the record between 'em both & place in the airin' cupboard, then after that, place it in the middle of a tight stack of records! If that doesn't work, it's well warped. If it's a kink (When the needle goes over the deformed part of the record, you can here it through the speakers) then 4get it, I've never known any1 get rid of a kink!!!!

I can see Kev wiv his Boffins Lab Jacket, mad uncontrolable hair, test tubes and bunsen burners conducting all sorts of Vinyl experimentations!!!!!!!. Good luck - I need to sort a stack of vinyl myself!.

warpage.

ive been told to hold the said warpage over a kettle whilst at boiling point,then put it on a flat surface with a hint of protection and sit a full record case on it,and leave 4 a while.
a top name dj gave this advise,ive not tried it but you might wanna chuck it in the experiment fellas

A word of advice though... don't burn vinyl cos it f***ing stinks...

We tried melting some old records whilst pissed in my oh-so-wacky student days. All I achieved was burning my hand with a lighter and stinking out our corridor :S
