In a world of my own
Depends on what you want it for and how much you intend on putting up, its pretty basic but thats all your going to get for free, theres no paying for a domain, no paying for the bandwidth on the site, no paying for the space :D

What exactly do you intend on doing with the site ?

If it's for business purposes, you'd ideally want a paid for account, as you might want to have a shopping cart if you are selling products?

Lycos and the free sites, aren't very stable.

Do you have a budget in mind?

You'd need to register a domain name, which is cheap as chips thesedays £2-5 depending if it's .co.uk or .com

And then buy webspace - which depends what the content is likely to be, and if you will need to have a messageboard or shopping cart on it etc.

Get a plan together of the content you intend to have, and peeps on here can advise you better

Sounds to me like it wouldn't need much in the way of space - which is good for your pocket :)

If it's just a site for info and contact, then that will be easy to setup and maintain.

I've used web-mania before and would recommend them, as they are cheap, and for what you need, it'd be ideal.

Here's a rough guide to pricing:

£20 a year for their hosting package (listed below) + VAT = £23.50

The only other thing to pay is the registration of the name of your domain.

500MB of disk space
6GB of data transfer per month

Frontpage extensions version 2002
Unlimited POP3 mail@yourdomain.com
Unlimited mail forwarding mail@yourdomain.com
Webmail for POP3 accounts
Email is filtered for Spam and Viruses
Unlimited subdomains of your domain name
e.g. http://subdomain.yourdomain.com/
CGI-BIN directory
Control Panel
Perl 5
PHP 4
SSI (server side includes)
MySQL Database
phpMyAdmin for MySQL management
SSH access
Full FTP access
Detailed visitor statistics
Close control downflow air conditioning units.
UPS system and Generator back-up

If its only a basic site you want your broadband ISP will probs give you enough webspace for nothing to host it then all you have to do is buy the domain name...

Or you could go with the people who host this site and sign up for their 99p a month for 30 or 50mb of space (cant remember)....their support is quality as well
