You know the ones, Tesco 'Value, Sainburys 'Basics', or in Shooms case Waitrose 'Still fucking expensive yet still bland as fuck' ranges.

For me, there are things i will compromise on and things i won't. Take toilet roll, i always buy decent one- the cheaper one is shit if you will pardon the pun. Pure orange juice (cept its not pure lol), i do the value one in this. I buy cheap Lemo too, the no added sugar 17p one from Thasda. I don't like cheap bread- it does that whole thing where only surgery can remove it from the roof of the mouth. Cheap butter, deffo. Cheap bleach, cheap floor cleaner shit but never cheap washing powder or washing up liquid.

I buy cheap Pork chops, but i can't stand that cheap fat mince that looks all white and maggoty.

What value products do you not mind, and which do you hate.
:)

I don't think you can scrimp on meat..cheap mince, chicken etc is disgusting.
I buy budget tinned stuff like chopped tomatoes, peas etc..but not beans:naughty: it has to be Heinz.

I like all the cleaning stuff to be branded..but I'll buy it from a cheapo shop like Home and Bargain..the instructions may be in German..but it does the job:thumbsup:

Yeah I'm with you on that. I once bought some B&Q white value paint, and it was like trying to paint the walls with milk. :|

Sniffing glue........again!
Ha ha, me and Sweet were in Tesco a couple of years ago and i was harping on about how wrong buying 3p beans is, you just wouldn't bother, what kind of people are that tight they can't even buy proper neans blardy blardy blah, and this woman barged past us both gave us a filthy look and picked up 2 cans!!

There is a range of supermarket own yet quality items, which i tend to opt for. Even though, my mother got a book for Chrismas called "the good shopping guide" (or summat) and it lists the unethical products and why, like bad for the envirionment, imported, chemicals etc. and almost all supermarkets own product were in the seriously shite list. I'm trying to be a more ethical shopper and buying the stuff that rates high in this book but it's quite hard sometimes.

lol

When I was a student with no money sharing a flat with 6 other lads we pooled together what cash we had left and went to Kwik Save

In total we spent about 11 quid on many types of food of the "No Frills" brand

The worst of the lot had to be the No Frills beans and mayonaise, the beans tasted of nothing and left an aftertaste something along the lines of a beer fart the day after a long session, and the mayonaise had the consistency of manfat, truly disgusting. When we left the flat we left about 20 tins of beans and 3 jars of mayo

Man Alive can verify this story, he chipped in with about 1.67 I think

The missus buys the value tinned tomatoes and thats about it I think

Own brand water is the only boggo stuff I will buy now. I have tried pretty much one of each type cheap stuff in the past... once.
Lol at the comments on mayo. They echo my sentiments entirely

i never buy cheap nasty mince, beans, bread, mayo, marg.

my mate used to work for paxo (the stuffing people) and they also made stuff like sharwoods stuff and jar sauces, she used to tell us to buy the cheapest value stuff coz it was all made in tha same factory but just packaged differently, wether it be netto own or marks n sparks!!

im not proud, if im skint i'll walk into aldi or netto or the like and buy cheap shite food................needs must n all that!! it was good enough for me when i was a kid.

but one thing that was always a no no when iwas in school...........never walk round or turn up to school with a cheapo shop carrier bag!!!!!

haha we used to save them JD sports bags with a pull string! :) I was always alright coz me mum and dad always shopped at sainsburys but u'd always have some poor kid with a kwick save bag.

Anyway.............

If I could afford it id buy organic, but i cant.

must say thou if you buy fruit or summat you can tell the difference from sainsburys and morrisons. Morrisons fruit and veg is shite, always goes off dead quick
