Winamp keeps crashing

if i drag the status bar back and forward too quickly while skipping through a mix it crashes and freezes my computer

im using version 2.666 (not so keen on the bulkier newer versions)

can anybody recommend a version of winamp that doesnt crash, but is still similar looking to the old style skin

i still use winamp 2.95 never had much of a prob with it
