Hey, long winded but ere goes,

Got Wireless Hub, 1 Laptop is connected already i want to add another Desktop PC to this Wireless connection,

Right..

I have a Belkin Wireless USB thing that picks up the signal ok, now it connects, got the Hub Password that connects my PC to the Hub but i cant connect to the internet as the IP addys conflict with the Laptop IP Addy. I Just wanna run a Laptop & a PC off this hub, and im totally stuck.

it should not have a "set" IP it should pick up its own IP automatically?

chack your IP address properties on the PC is set to get IP automatically

check router is setup for multiple IP adedresses also?

as mentioned earlier, disconnect everything and then start from scratch, putting the desktop on first then the laptop

Use the command on both laptop and PC and type ipconfig to find all of your IP details
Code:
Start>Run>[i]type[/i] cmd <enter>

[i]type[/i] ipconfig

So, your IP addresses on both should look something like this:

192.168.1.2

There's two ways around this and it's dependant on if you want to add more laptops/PCs in the future (this assumes you're using XP SP2).

Option 1
In the router console (usually viewed through your browser) you will have an option for DHCP. If you enable this, each laptop/PC that connects to your wireless router will be issued with an IP address within a specific range e.g. 192.168.1.2 - 192.168.1.250
Reboot the router and reboot the laptop/PC and reconnect.

Option 2
Go into the properties of your connection (there's multiple ways of doing this but double clicking the "two little TVs" icon in the system tray [next to the clock] is quickest).
Press the Properties button and scroll down the list shown in the General tab until you see Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Double click.
Select Use the following IP address and enter your desired IP address.

e.g. IP Address = 192.168.1.50, Subnet mask = 255.255.255.0 (you should check your router config to ensure this is correct but it's the most common) Default Gateway = 192.168.1.1 (your router's internal IP address. Again, check your documentation)

That's pretty much it.

Hope it helps, give me a shout if you want me to go through it with you.

Thanks, have pretty much done that, my only prob is now that Packets are Received but none are Sent, could this be another problem with the intermittent connection?

DCHP was enabled anyway, IP addy was 1 place up from the laptop downstairs instead of .2 at the end of the IP addy its .3, so its on its own!!

It works well for a while but then comes to a stop, so i always need to reboot!

Don't think ive ever had an Internet connection go soomthly ever!! DOH!

Thanks agin!!
