So, predictions, teams, bets, opinions... etc

Personally I think England should do well looking at how the 2 sides are drawn, easy semi's imo as the Germans, French and Argiez are playin like crap...... yes I know, never right any of them 3 teams off...

But lets look at it this way... how often to England do crap in the friendlies and just scrape in to the finals then do really well? But this time we have almost stormed into the finals.

Brazil, Spain and Italy are the most dangerous teams along with the likes of Holland and even Ivery coast (who I think could pull a shokka...) but all those teams are on the other side of the fence till we get near the end, only 1 of any of those teams can be in the final.

I think it's not impossible to see an England Vs Italy or Spain final....

lol wicked! well, I also think there is a good chance England could face the auzzies in the 1st stages of the knockout rounds, so that might add a little spice to things depending on the cricket results then ;)

I reckon we got a fair chance. The thing that worries me is that i said the same in '02 and '06.

I think the difference this year though is that we have the winning mentality. Even if we're not playing particularly well (Mexico, Japan) we're doing whats needed to win the game. As you know, Germany dont play that pretty but they are effective. So, im quietly confident. Ive got £1 on a England - Holland final at 33-1

I think England will do well this time round, Can't wait for it all to begin, I was only in South Africa 7months ago and the place was buzzing about the World Cup happening but im also sure that the Pick Pockets of SA will have a field day over the amount of Tourists that will be coming over.

Im also routing for New Zealand as its the 1st time in 20yrs that they are in the world cup and things are under way for a permanent move there in a few years time.

Bring on the World Cup!

So, it all starts today for the next 4 weeks!!! Could we see the start match have a historic beginning with South Africa being the 1st host team to not qualify to the knockout stages?

I'm going for 2-1 to Mexico on this 1st game, then later tonight 2-0 to France against Uruguay.

Any thoughts crew?

like it...

I think SA may be one of the tournaments dark horses. I can see them winning this afternoon. Ill go for a 2-1 victory to the Bafana Bafana (or whatever theyre called..).

I think France have serious problems in camp. Apparantly there are rumours that Domenech wont play Henry and therefore Anelka isnt going to pass to his replacement etc etc. On the back of Forlans sparkling form for Atletico im going for a ...1-1 draw.

I know a lad whos just flown to Cape Town for the start of 18 months travelling. Lucky git!

I can't wait. Will be doing my best to skive off work at every conceivable opportunity to watch the games.

I think Spain will win it. They have world class players in every area of the team. Arguably one of the top 3 goalkeepers in the world, a midfield that Fabregas can't get into and 2 top class goalscorers.

If they have a weakness it is possibly in defence, mainly the full backs but that is a push. Pique has been excellent for Barcelona this season.

They have a manager who has won titles and a champions league with Real Madrid. They also have experience of winning international championships, and having never won the World Cup they must feel this is their time with that team.

If not Spain, then it will be the Brazilians or the Argies. Brazil's weakness has usually been their defence, but not this time. They have possibly the best keeper in the world at the moment in Cesar, and an in form back four. The Argies have the best player in the world and if that lunatic Maradona keeps his head they may go all the way.

The Italians are the dark horses for me and Lippi is a top class manager. The French to go out in the first round because they can't stand their manager. The Dutch to wipe the floor with everyone until the QFs when they will lose it at the back because their defence doesnt have any pace.

As usual I will be wrong and the Germans will win it on penalties with stuffy dour football.

As for England, the semi finals at best if Im honest. It will be the same old story, we cannot keep the ball, and it will be our undoing in the later stages when we go out on penalties. I hope Im wrong and if they win it I will disappear for a week long boozy drug fuelled session:D

Tbh, i've not seen any sports news about anything, just cought bits'n bobs from chat rooms i use. I know France aint playing well, but had no idea they had those kinda issues.... has to be said at this point...... Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :D

Sounth Africa 'should' do well, playin' at home'n all that, but i think even playing at home it might be a tough call for them to beat Mexico.

As for ya mate, rather him that me tbh, mad bunch over there and it would not at all surprise me if some loon tries to lob a grenade into it someplace...

Looking 4ward to the game, should be very interesting indeed
