xbox360 problem

my lads xbox has got the 3 lights of death and error 73 i think he said or wotever its know as. Rang microsoft and they said as its warranty had expired it would cost £60 for them to fix. Does anyone know if this problem can be fixed by someone other than microsoft??

happened to me about 3 months ago, had mine about 2 years now, apparently they extended the warrenty for the 3 red light ring of death to 3 years, at 1st they wanted £60 but when double checked they fixed mine for nothing. go on to xbox.com and look up your problem it will take you through step by step, thats how i got mine done for free.

tis a load of bollox the ring of death and they should sort it out the bastards as its a known hardware problem. like buying a computer knowing it was going to break at some stage. when i got mine back though its got a totally new disc drive installed and it shocking was filthy obviously from a different machine been refubished !!! works fine though now. think gamestation do repairs in the big city stores just check online. good luck:thumbsup:

Read about this "red ring" (aptly named) thing in today's Metro.

It seems that cuntishly, in the way only Microsoft can be cuntish, they have a fix already for the overheating display chip.

The replacement will be released to the public "when stocks of the existing chips have been run down".

I had the 3 red lights of death, sent it back to microsoft and got myself a brand new one with a benq drive in(which they stupidly thought could not have the firmware changed), took bout 12 days to get it back:thumbsup:, so send the fooker back and you to can have a new 360 f Christmas.;)

how old is it?

if its the 1st or 2nd run of the 360 microsoft added an additional warrantee as the boxes were flawed manufaturally.

Im not sure i go with a self fix if the console could go back to them.

Think mine is on its way out, only had it a few months 360 elite, crashes, screen freeze on certain games which are in mint condition so its not like they are scratched etc. the main game it really dont like is gta 4 for some reason.

I was told by a friend a few peeps are having same probs since the new up date, does anyone have any thoughts on this.
