1991 to 2004

1991 - Marcus Garvey Centre Nottingham - 8/10
my 1st ever rave.. . Still very early days, but excellent atmoshpere... was in a slightly dodgy place.. but still good.

1992 - Amnesia Book Of Love Brayfield Stadium - 10/10
First outdoor rave.. think this was the one where someone got married on stage. Absolutlely wicked!

1992 - Perception - Melton Mobray Airfield. - 7/10
Good night, shame the police raided it and tried to close it down, but we were having none of it and eventually they left us alone!

1992 - 1994 - PleasureDome Fantasy Island Skegness - 10/10
Fantastic club.. loads of brilliant memories... especially 1994 New Years Eve.. i danced on stage with The Detonator Robbie Dee...

1993 - Amnesia House - The Cue Club, Digbeth Institue Birmingham. 8/10 Only went once on NYE 1993... very good night.. i remember my mate being convince that DJ Sy was black!!

1994 - 1995 - Mr B's Willenhall Wolverhampton. - 10/10
Another club with a brilliant atmosphere.. had some good Pandemoniums there.

1995 - UK Midlands Birmingham - 7/10
Only went a few times so can't really remember, but i do recall having a good night.

1994 - 1999 - Essence Nottingham - 7/10
Had moved to house music really by 1995.. hardcore got a bit too commercial sounding for my liking.... if you listen to any set 1991 to 1994, they're brilliant tunes... then suddenly 1995 - 96.. things go peared shaped.. may be i was just getting older!

1999 - 2004 - The Bomb Nottingham - 10/10
Suberb club... quite small so atmosphere was amazing... Sasha was resident so had many an excellent night!

That's it.. until I remember something else...

Here goes mine

The amber club (newton heath) - absolute joke of a club , but you have to start somewhere. Crappy rnb with the best tune being Keith Sweat - twisted

You gotta be kidding.. it used to kick-off there every night....
no way was there ever a spirit of love and harmony in the Amber Club. LOL :)

.. though on second thoughts,.. i guess it's the kind of place that could have sold E's at the bar. (a bit like the pub in Shameless - TV Series)

LOL

Robski

Aberdeen
There is a good chance I've missed a couple out but here goes.
Not that I was ever a "regular" at any of these events because I lived between leeds and aberdeen for a couple of years.
‘89
Fever - Aberdeen (Starting out @ 16) 9/10 (Double Trouble, Adamski, Mr Monday. Regular DJ's, Jacque, Jim, Elvis & Mark + guests such as Slam, Graeme Park, Justin Robertson etc )
‘90
The Warehouse – Leeds 8/10
Slam II In the Park- Strathclyde Park 10/10 (808 State and many more) Top night despite the bus driver getting lost and some punter having a fit after too much speed – fortunately the filth gave us an escort to the event all safe and raring to go.
Kaos - Leeds Poly (Sasha, Steve Williams and Tony Ross + More) Might of seen 808 State there. 9/10 (closed at 2am which was too early)
Man Alive – Manchester (Can’t remember much about that night)
‘91
Sub Club - Glasgow 9/10 (Stuart and Ord aka Slam)
Slam 3D - Edinburgh My 18th Birthday... 8/10 (Can’t remember who played, The Shamen maybe?)
The Astoria - London (Fabio and Grooverider) Amazing Night and Crowd 10/10
Hipnotic –Leeds 9/10
Ballys – Arbroath No comment
“All nighter” in Perth – Only remember Blue Pearl playing. Got shut at 2am 1/10
Hacienda - Manchester (Went with a guy called Mark from The Book Show on channel 4, top bloke got us in without waiting. I remember Mark was in a wheel chair and been a member of the Hac since it opened) 10/10
‘92 Onwards. Attend a few places around the globe.
The Pelican Club – Aberdeen. Got to see the one and only Pascal bongo Massive, fantastic.
The Cross – London 9/10 (Went there the night England bt Scotland 2-0 Euro 96)
The Arches - Glasgow 10/10
The Hippy Club – Perth Australia
Rotown -Rotterdam 9/10
Milkweg - Amsterdam 9/10
Zouk (Slam, Primal Scream, Norman Jay), Sound and Sugar - Singapore
Ministry of Sound – Singapore – 2/10 (hence it’s closed now)
Bed Supper club - Bangkok.
I remember going a place in NYC around '96, looked like the Astoria in London but can’t remember the name. Some punter was trying to charge US$50 (30+ quid) for a pill. Outrageous considering it’s the centre of the universe, looking back it might’ve been worth it.

OZ.
Right here goes.

1991-1995

Cream, Liverpool (the early days when it was in a tiny room)
Drome, Birkenhead (Mad meeting up with old school friends completely off their chops)
Hacienda, Manchester. (many, many, many happy times!)
Boardwalk, Manchester. (Loved the indie/funk and alternative DH used to play)
PSV, Manchester (Very scary to get to, but a mental place!)

Vague, Leeds (you had to recite a poem or limbo under madamme Jojo's umbrella to get into this flamboyant gay club. Good night, unless Boy George was playing)
Up Yer Ronson/back to Basics, leeds (very good, I loved the more vocal tunes at UYR a little better)

Hard Times, Huddersfield (Loved the US House tunes played there, saw FK play a 10hr set)
Golden, Stoke, Looking back, it was brilliant when they used to drop the original of that Doobie Brothers track!
MOS, London (Great when Tony Humphries was resident)
Aso been to a few one offs like Chuff Chuff, Renaissance etc.

various raves including Fantazia, Perception, Dutch North Sea Rave Festival, clubs in Germany, Holland and Belgium I can't for the life of me remember the names of.

Must be loads more, but can't remember!

From 96 onwards I've been travelling and now based in Australia and had a decent run at DJing myself.

Top thread , one that i had always thought of posting but was always to pissed to be arsed :p

90 - a few illegal warehouse parties , got banged up after one in burnley got raided . It was a crazy experience when the police were trying to smash there way in . I remember there was some big roller shutter doors that the police were trying to liftup and loads of ravers all hung on the doors and they couldnt lift them higher than a foot or so lol

I was at this, was in Nelson just outside Burnley, few weeks before Christmas 1990.

Remember the riot police trying to get in & everybody attacking the roller shutter doors, when they eventually got inside they lined us all up against the side of the warehouse whilst they trashed the decks & arrested us.:fekked:

Reckon the cells in Lancashire were full to bursting that night.

I was at college at Burnley at this time & bought the local rag the following Monday, headline on the front said summat like `RAVERS NIGHT OF SHAME` - sadly i`ve mislayed it as the years have passed.

Fondest memory - when Moby came on to play Go for the very first time. Pretty certain that's where his music video of it was from as well.

MANCHESTER, 1991-95
PSV
Amazing club, amazing memories. The main night was called Funhouse run by Strat with DJs Derek C, DJ Aitch, Mikesmoke and MC Jon O.D. (It had previously been owned by Tony Wilson and called the The Russell Club, where Joy Division (and other Factory bands) first played.). Fondest memory - far too many to pick out just one.. but i'd probably have to go with 'Last night at the PSV' where Derek played all the old tunes and eventually the club owner had to literally pull the plug on us, cause we weren't going to stop! Top night.

Hacienda
Fondest memory was being on stage with GrandMaster Flash and seeing him do his thing. Other fondest memory was having sex in the girls lavs... nice!

Pollen
Student run club night. Friendly vibe, decent music... and they handed out free acid! Fondest memory - being sick whilst mid mix, but carrying on as if nothing had happened! Class! Ron Hardy eat your heart out!

Bounce, Nottingham
DiY crew making history. Fondest memory – seeing a projection of dancing testubes, and thinking they were real people dancing!

Obviously there have been many many other club nights I’ve been to/been involved with… but these are the ones that mattered most.

Braintree Barn 1989/1990 MrC
The arches Glasgow late 90's Tony De-Vit
Full moon party 94/5 Ko Pangnan, I think Sasha was dj.
Wembly conference halls 96 Carl Cox
South port dance weekender 96

lots and lots of other top nights but they are all a bit foggy.

1990 - 92:-

Little Ceasars (I.o.Man) boss club, great times, loads of top nights and ended up DJ'ing there in '92

'92,'93'94
Attended the Hacienda on as regular basis as I could being from the I.o.Man, started off going Fridays to Shine (with Sasha) then after he left went on Saturdays to see Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, some top nights although got ripped a couple of times which didn't help the night, ended up bring things over from home to make sure we were sorted. Same with Bowlers got ripped there, never went back, far too big and shite when some arsehole has sold you a vitamin for £10. Went to Renaissance a fe times in '93, had a boss night in July '93, sure I saw Spiderman climbing the wall and 2 rolls of carpet dancing in front of me  :fekked:

on the Island '93 -'94
Academy, DJ'd there as well as danced some top nights there too, being an Island everyone knew everyone else.

'94 - '96
encarcerated!

'96-'98
a Club called Jimmy B's had some good nights in there too, made up for 2 'lost' years that's for sure.

'99 to prensent
Totally left the Clubbing 'scene'

I was never a fan tbh but my ex used to love going. She knows Dave Haslam and Jason Boardmen, so I'll ask if she can get hold of some old recordings for you.

Also, in case you didn't know... they've been holding yearly Yellow Reunions @ The Ruby Lounge every October.

Wow if you could get a mix, that would be cool.

What i liked about the Boardwalk as well was the crowd ( good bunch) used to wait for the guy to come in with the toffees, then you`d all queue up on the stage to buy them. It`s was like a tuck shop at school lol

wow Whipper, you've just reminded me we got the K.O. from the Hac one Friday, ended up asking where to go and some gizzers (trying to be funny -I think) told us the Wiggly Worm, only after joining the que then after 10 mins realising we were the only white people in it, we promptly left and went to the Boardward, where the DJ was 'cagged in' obviously for his/her own safety as people were just throwing bottles when they'd finished their drink:naughty: , we didn't last long in there it's fair to say, our Friday was ruined, made up for it on the Saturday though with a trip to Mansfield and on the guest list at Renaissance, to hear Sasha, Digweed, Oakenfold etc phones: . In fact it probably made that night better as we'd stayed relatively 'sober' on the Friday.
