most hated oldskool tune

After trolling through the thread (which was entertaining reading)

My conclusions are that, overplayed anthums do become a bit /lot of a bore due to the fact there hammered either on here or in the clubs, people still love them because, well for me they offer great memorys of events/nights out/freinds, that in my case grew up with.

IMO its todays drugs that are shit and not the tunes:(

When was the last time you payed 20 brick for a pill????

I'm sure if you dropped one of those thingy's most of the above mentioned tunes would be back in their element.

And for those that never payed £20 and with respect, you've never been out on a proper night.

And those that dont take pills....................

Let the debate go on.

lol i remember paying 25 back in the day ;) mind u that was belfast for u :p

Ah, but you shouldn't need to take a tab for a tune to be good though. Shit drugs or not, a decent tune is a decent tune- whether it be in a club off your fucking rocker or in the background on a deck whilst doing the washing up on a Tuesday night.

Aye, and so is all manner of shite and dodgy things that quite frankly sober would seem silly. I can, and will dance to almost anything if i am in a good mood and out to have a great time. I might come away thinking that the tunes were average or whatever, but i still had a blast. The fact i have taken an ultra strong pill from yesteryear won't give me a taste bypass and i will suddenly start thinking Jinny is in my top 10 or owt.

That's just daft! I have had easily the best nights of my life on the stronger stuff (everything was diff then though), but to suggest those that have only got into the scene in the last 10 years or whatever have 'never had a proper night' is insane. I myself have been out in the last year and just had 2 glasses of wine- i had an ace time. The people, the atmos and the music made it so. Don't get me wrong; it was props not as profound as a night out say in 90 but it was still 'proper'.

I dare say that circumstances mean i will stay sober in a drug sense for many years, i do not, however, believe that this abstinence will in any way mean my taste in music is any less valid, or my judgment impaired.

I personally find music beautiful, scary, uplifting, heartbreaking whatever- at 8 in the morn, driving to the supermarket, or on an advert. Either way, the drugs just amplify what is already great- they can't make it so.

I have already answered this though in my last post:S .

All you are doing by stating this is highlighting the fact that good drugs can make anything sound passable, albeit temporary. A good tune is a good tune regardless of chemicals.

The same shit tunes will go back to being so once sober- hence it being the drugs that are ace and not the records.

back in the day, their was'nt many shit tunes, they were all brand new. and a few people have slated some top tunes IMO due to the fact they get overplayed. i take a real and plausible way of looking at things regarding the scene, and to some people it may seem like a mile away in terms of not being there, but in haste:

the chemicals and the music back in the day was a perfect mixture, that will never be repeated.

tunes that are regarded as shite, are really no worse than than the persons experiance that puts them down.

Dunno if you class this as old skool or italo but any ways i loathe GEORGIA LEWIS- HIT (the knob who made it on) THE FLOOR....with a passion, dunno why i just dont like it....sorry :D

If said it before n I'll say it again...there are deffo deffo certain sounds that 'play' your body & enhance the E experience... & I reck you remember this when you re-hear the tune sober... or at least recognise how the tune would play your body when heard loud & pilled.

I've been to many a night sober & buzzed off (& created) the atmosphere... I don't believe an atmosphere is created entirely by drugs... I do however believe it is created by people that have used drugs at some point in their life & recognise a good tune when they hear it :)

This to me is still one of the most powerful tunes I've ever heard & I would go mental for this sober, pilled or straight-jacketed & having had my legs cut off:

D-Shake - Yaaah / Techno Trance

Stutteryness rules my world \o/

The daft thing is that this is imo one of the best emotional & uplifting house tunes ever made & yet you can still pick it up for pence...

& listen to the crowd loving it when dropped at a Blackburn rave:

Sorry but i disagree. Of course there were shit tunes back in the day. It being a particularly great time as far as new music goes does not, and cannot, detract from the fact that there was still inevitably shit tunes being made/released- there always is. You might not agree with what i or the next man class as shit- but hey thats life. Your argument prior to this was that its the drugs that have gone giz- and as a consequence people's opinions of some tunes have changed- an issue which i have already answered.

People evolve musically throughout their life. What i might have thought as a right beast aged 14 when i had very little exposure might have become cheesy nonsense a year later when i had the luxury of better quality music. This has nothing to do with drugs, its about refining tastes. In a similar way to someone looking attractive when you’re wearing beer goggles- so can some tunes sound good when you're off your head- hence my point about a shit tune going back to being shit when sober (regardless of strength of tab). I find it odd that you fail to recognise that perhaps people have always disliked the mentioned records, even when they first came out, so unless you establish whether this to be the case or not your rationale is pretty weak.

and a few people have slated some top tunes IMO due to the fact they get overplayed..

A valid point and one which i agreed with hence leaving it out of my reply last time.

I fail to see what this has to do with what people personally find aurally sound or unsound. Again your complicating this with coming at it from a temporal and drug slant. A shit tune is a shit tune to some end of.
tunes that are regarded as shite, are really no worse than than the persons experiance that puts them down.

I have no idea what you mean by this senny:confused: .

In a nutshell, your argument is that its simply the same great tunes all along, and its actually people's perceptions that have changed due to lower quality drugs. Imo, this is total nonsense- as is your comment re: never having had a 'proper' night out unless its on the old style e's. The reasons for me thinking so have already been given.

I'd like to state (said this a few times before on here) between the years 1989 and 2003 I never took any drugs, so the music was always about the music without any altered states for me.

A shit tune is a shit tune, there are no drugs that will make it any better*

I rememeber a dj in a club up in Manc around 91/92 dropping a "tune" for 3 minutes, all it was, was a bass drum, nothing else for 3 minutes lol - people were going absolute banana's over this "tune" made me laugh that as it was like they'd never heard a bass drum on its own before.

As for the drugs being crap nowadays, I can't compare them to the likes of Doves etc, as I never did them, but there are some drugs around today that are shit hot and they do make you tune into sounds in a more deeper/enhanced way, if the tunes are good of course ;)

*pointing out before Tag says owt about him dropping Technoage at Hazy and me dancing to it, I was that off it, I'd have danced to whale noises, in my defence :)

E-make a white man dance

That is one of the worst things i have ever heard,i started listening to underground music from 1983 when i was 8 years old when it was all about Hip Hop and Electro before the House blah! blah! blah! it was not about drugs but showing what you could do naturaly without drugs {breakdancing and Scratching etc} i was a little kid scratcher when there was no DJ's around at all {and look now there is thousands}.About calling a shit tune a shit tune, how to decide this i feel is to look at the Production side of the tune if it has strong Production and the story works it will connect with a lot of people, but there is also tunes you will like personally and others won't like because you remeber a certain time this does not mean this is a good tune but it is to you!

I wished i lived through The Beatles Era because they change everything! if not for them music would be nothing like it is today....

UK changed the music World a long time ago!...

Lets enjoy the tunes we do like :D Hope i have not gone abit my passion is boiling because of this topic....
