Same for Posh spice.

There are so so so many others. I really don't think in comparison that girls aloud are that bad!

Difference is though, is that them lot aren't directly marketed at impressionable kids as a way of making money....

You're right lol I never meant anyone wants to be anorexic! And i wasnt saying that its right for young girls to want to be like popstars.

I was just making the point that when I was 11/12, everyone loved the spice girls.....i used to think they were really good! I really loved Emma Bunton and always wanted to look like her.

Oh I remember how badly I wanted to be Geri...I remember my first ORANGE crop top...

Loads of young girls did actually have that union jack dress...I remember it being worn in end of year concert thingys when every group of girls had made a dance up to a spice girls song to show lolol.

'Thin' definitely wasn't as fashionable then as it is now though. Think of the girl groups back then...spice girls...all saints...eternal...if you see their pop video's now, they weren't as stick thin as todays girl groups are.

easy solution to that, dont follow trends.
At the end of the day, the parent/s brings the kids up. My mam n dad used to say that I had to do as they say, not what anyone else told me for as long as i lived under their roof and untill i could pay my own way. Now maybe they were forceful but its done me no harm.
Now if a parent lets their kids get proper skinny cause they wanna be like girls aloud then its the parents fault for allowing it to happen, well thats my opinion anyway

Its all very well saying that to an adult, a child doesn't know any better.

If a kid doesn't follow the trends that their friends do they are gonna get stick for it. You can't shield a child from that...bar home school maybe.

Even if the parent force feeds the child against their will, the child is probably gonna feel unhappy & resentful...better than starving yes, but still an unwarrented shame.

I can only speak form my own experience cheryl and the basic fact was that my parents could not afford the latest trends when i was growing up. i have a brother n sister and putting food on the table was the main thing. Believe me, there was absolutely no way that we would not have ate that food as it would have been forced down our throats lol
The mad thing is that none of my mates really could afford the latest trends as Newton heath was a socially deprived area in east manchester when i was growing up so we were not gonna get any stick.
I suppose you have to be strong as a parent and not give in to your kids as its not gonna do them any good in the long run
Another mad thing, who exactly is it that put women under pressure to be that thin as its certainly not men

You can't just generalise that 'its not men' & rule out half the population. Poop head.

Its a sociocultural variable, women who were voluptuous & slightly plump were what was depicted as beautiful not so long back...if you look at old art etc. Its just a trend, and like everything else, a money making scheme, the simultaneous advertisement of food & then the need to diet & be thin = one big circular cash flow.

To add to this point, even if a child is force fed by their parents against their will, a strong willed child who wanted to not eat that badly would just wait a while and throw it up. That's what happens a lot in todays culture (am talkin to easty but just using ur quote chez as I'm sure u know this anyway lol)

If any of Girls Aloud feel they are a bit too skinny and would like to fatten up a bit they are more then welcome to come round my house and fill up on my homemade all natural protein erm...shake :eyebrow: .

I'd have em looking like the Roly Poly's off Les Dawson's show inside a month.

btw. beauty tip - protein shake also works well as a face cream. ;)

I think the first one is far more normal than the done up second one...How much doctering has Cheryl Cole had? Deffo had her teeth done, she looks well different, they all do, even the ginger one looks like shes had a bit :ghost:

Just making the point that before they hit 'big time' they were just normal girls, 5 years or how ever many they have been around on, they are super thin, super sexy merchandise, being put in front of young ppl who are looking up to them, buying thier music, buying mags just cos they are in em, wanting to be like these ppl..Nicola looks well vacant, kinda lights are on, but no omes home :|

yep, cheryl has defo had her teeth done-they look ranko there! (Soz I'm just a tooth perfectionist! lol)

Edited to add-Sarah Harding (although has lots more make-up on in the second pic) looks the most unchanged figure and looks wise. I think they have obviously got a more "mature" look nowadays but nadine is prob the most changed lookin weight wise out of the lot!

You would though wouldnt you, if you had access to the best hairdressers, dentists, personal trainers, make up artists etc etc, especially if you knew that everytime you ventured out you would be scrutinised by the media, cant blame them for that:)
