At the end of the day it's all about personal preference.
I've had Sennhiesers, Beyer, Ministry Of Sound and Technics headphones over the years but by far prefer the Sony MDR-V700 which I use now.
These used to be around £100 but I've just had a scan on ebay and you pick them up for a fraction of that price now.

Only downside is a slight tendancy to slowly strangle the wearer as they keep turning around... & around... & around....

Charlie I ordered some of these off ebay last week. £10.50, plus £10 shipping.. . ….. … From China :D .

Im very dubious but theres loads being sold and ALL the feedback suggests theyre spot on. There are threads on ebay community pages saying theyre fakes, but I couldn’t give two fucks if they’re spot on. If not, its only £20 down the pan was my thinking. Not arrived yet, but I will update this thread and give my honest opinion when (if!) they arrive.

But RRP is £80, so £20 is a proper bargain. hopefully :rotate:

Movin' on up.
Sennhieser HD 25 SP for me. . .They were recommended to me by my cousin who is one half of Phantom Beats and runs Plastic Raygun Records (Breakbeat).

He plays all over the world and swears by them. . .Light weight, durable, Comfortable, repairable, great frequencies, good external noise muffling.

Short wire though, don't walk to far from the mixer to get a tune!!

As for strangling you. . .I think the headphones must have it in for Shooms as it has never been a problem for me. . . .Great purchase!

I use the Technics DJ 1210's too for mixing, but after a hour or 2 they start to hurt my head with their tight grip. I've never used a better pair for mixing though and they're virtually indestructable

Got the Sennheiser HD25 pro's too and use those for listening to music on the lappy like the radio shows here. They're very comfortable, lightweight and the sound is balanced really well, so I can wear em all day without much hearing fatiguephones:

I'd say Technics DJ 1210's for mixing then and Sennheiser HD 25 pro's for listening:cool:

Spending money on a pair of Technics is well worth it long term too, because you stand on a cheap pairs cable and they're as good as ready for the bin, but i've lost count of the number of times ive stood on the technics cable and they're still going strong'- about 11 or 12 years after buying them:cool:

Oh and the solid bass on em is something else too;)

11 or 12 years... definately worth the initial cost then, I'm a firm believer of buying good quality stuff first before wasting money on cheap crap. False economy IMO phones:

Not sure why you'd wanna pay 80 quid for a pair twice, especially seeing as they're hard to destroy:S 80 quid isn't really that cheap either ;)

Had quite a few pairs of headphones over the years and cheap pairs tend to be flimsy and fall apart quickly when you use em for mixing as they aren't built to withstand abuse. The sound quality of cheaper pairs aren't in the same league either.

Wouldn't say that's a good rule in this case:)
