Rampant Oldskool Classics @ The Carleton - Sat 25th Sept 2010
Do you remember the oldskool clubbing days of the early 1990's ?.Memorable nights were held all over the country,but the north west had some of the best to offer.Nights such as the ZONE,SEQUINS and the LOVESHACK in blackpool pulled in thousands of clubbers,as did MONROES,WIGAN PIER and the MILL(preston).
Morecambe had the infamous SHOKK nights,and were followed by the very popular oldskool all-nighters at the EMPIRE.
Well,its time... to dust off your dancing shoes,get your babysitters sorted,and re-live the music that made these nights at a one-off,never to be repeated event sure to make you remenisce with a smile!!
We have tracked down and managed to secure a line-up of guest dj's
that graced the decks at the mentioned nights in that magical musical era.
Firstly,we have MATT BELL,an oldskool legend who played out regularly at the ZONE,MILL+EMPIRE.After quite a few years away from the scene,matt has recently enjoyed a brief come-back,playing numerous
north west gigs.But because of work commitments,matt has assured us that this is one of his last ever dj sets!!
Next up is ANDY D (DUCKY) who surely needs no introduction! he is both a talented dj and producer who started out playing at the EUPHORIA nights in the late 80's at the carleton. He then moved on to regular guest spots at the ZONE and the oldskool all-nighters at the EMPIRE.Producing under the guise of ANALYSIS and KOMA+BONES,andy has a varied and knowledgeable taste in music.He has assured us that he is going back to his oldskool roots and is coming out of retirement for this one and only time (100% GUARANTEED!!),and will never play at an oldskool night EVER AGAIN.So you surely cannot miss such an eagerly awaited set!!
Last up is CHRIS BAKER,who is still to this day,flying the oldskool flag.He has played at many an oldskool night,from blackpool right up to workington and can still pull in a good crowd.The ZONE,MILL,PAGODA and the EMPIRE
were a few of his old venues,but chris can still be seen on many a flyer for retro events today!
Your resident dj's on the night are REECE,DAZZ+MATT who have between them,kept the oldskool vibe going in morecambe for the last decade or so.They have played at most of the big (and small) oldskool nights that have come to town including SHOKK,EMPIRE and the DOME as well as THE MILL,ANGELS,MONROES and the SYNDICATE but to name a few.They had great success with the "RAMPANT OLDSKOOL CLASSICS" night at the carleton from 1998-2003,packing out the venue with live p.a.'s and dj's such as SLIPMATT,STU ALLAN,808 STATE+SHADES OF RHYTHM. Even now,they are spinning classic tunes at the OLDSKOOL CLASSICS night at the QUEENS.
And so it was decided that RAMPANT OLDSKOOL CLASSICS,THE CARLETON and YOU HAPPY PEOPLE should be re-united for one last time!!
We have made the night " OVER 25s " ONLY so it will be an atmosphere where there is no fear!! Leave your attitudes at the door and be prepared to dance your socks off!!
