free anti virus and spyware ?

I know this has prob been done thousands of times, but was wondering where and whats the best free to install ? These get updated regularly so updated software would be good

Anyways I got to update my brother computer and he needs antivirus and spyware, he getting lots of pop ups, lol.. mainly for porn so god only knows what he been lookin at !!!! but his missus is gettin a bit annoyed as the 5 year old kid cant get on the cbeebies web site now because of the porn pop ups.

Formerly "Ewido Security Suite" now part of AVG...

Ewido was always my fave for this but it's not free. You used to be able do download a trial version to get you out the shit, but i dunno if they are still doing that these days.

IMO the best free antivirus is AVG free. The new version has anti spyware on too. i have it installed on my pc and get updates most days.
Very low cpu usage as well

Ive just noticed this and i am gutted what are you all going to do cos i must admit avg free is very good had no issues with it.

I think its $54.99??

Is any one going to pay or find another soluotion?

Im paying £18 a year for my AVG subscription. It stops most but not all, even with daily updates. I also run random Ad-Aware scans which seems to pick up the things AVG doesnt. Strange that 'cos Ad-Aware is free..

I've put avast Avast Home Edition - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com on mine (as well as avg AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free software downloads and reviews - CNET Download.com) as it's won the recent free anti-virus tests it's been in recently and is better rated on download.com too

They both update daily and don't slow down your comp by a very noticable amount
