BBC SPORT | Olympics | Diving | Aldridge blames Daley for failure

I personally feel that a team is a team & even if you bicker internally you provide a united outside face to the world... for a 26 year old to blame a 14 year old in the manner that Aldridge has done is cowardly & smacks of bullying...

Much kudos & respect to Daley in my opinion for not rising to it...

Thoughts ?

Yeah... finger pointing at yer partner in doubles or team events is out of order no two ways.
Picking fault at your own peformance is fine, but never ever that of your partner. Not publicly anyway. But it sounds like the two of them had a bit of a fall out during the event. One nicked the other's footy stickers or summat. Here's hoping now that the pressure's off they can make up their differences.

I agree Shooms. Should have kept it in house. Daley did dive below form, but Aldridge was not that great either.

Too be honest, it was probably a bit of frustration at all the hype surrounding Daley and Aldridge feeling like the spare part. Perhaps once it was over some of the frustration/resentment came out?

Still, not the way to do it.

Thats absolutely pathetic passing the blame..Who's the 14 yr old Aldridge or Daley! tut immature or what!!?
So much for a team effort, make no wonder they didn't win if they were fractching all the time!!
I just hope Daley does well in the individual dives later on- it will be like sticking 2fingers up@ his team mate!

I'd have thought their coach was responsible for assessing their overall performance ánd i'd have expected harsh comments to stay within their team:crazy:

Aldridge hasn't done himself many favours:naughty:

Washing your dirty linen in public seems so very un-English.

Playing Devil's advocate, you would feel a little pished off with Daley after grabbing all the headlines like he's some wonder child then putting in a sub par performance. He'll oly be 18 in 2012, the other bod will be 30 and the man time forgot!

I thought Aldridges' dive was worse due to the amount of splash he made. I saw Daley only just snatched his legs right at the final second. But even so Aldridge should have bollocked himself, or had a go at the media for making Daley a cause celebré if he really wanted to lash out. :naughty:

Totally agree with you there mate  Lashing out at his team mate like that has made Aldridge look pathetic. It's a major acheivement for anyone to compete in the olympics but at such a young age Daley has done exceptionally well and that's whay there's been so much media hype around him. Plus he's shown a hell of a lot of maturity in comparrison to his older team mate. Aldridge has made himself look really bitter and quite resentful.

To the untrained eye (mine :D ) I thought their dives looked alright. In the commentary afterwards it showed how synchronised they were for the most part so they didn't mess it up completely or anything but by slating Daley in the media Aldrige has let the side down.

He should not have televised his opinions to the public but i think there is a lot more to it! like when they are practicing together the kid is probaly a spoilt brat & never listens! Just wants all the attention so the diving really becomes second to him which that is not a team & not fair on the other person who puts all there heart into it!

There is more to things that meets the eye! But defo should not have said anything on TV!

Fair play to the young lad Tom  ...you can see which one was concentrating and focusing on the job ahead in the tradition of what the games are about trying your hardest whatever the outcome and which one was more bothered about phoning his mom whilst the competion was still on !!! hey look at me mom I'm at the olympics:wave: ! what a prat

talk about role reversal in ages.

What an arse bandit!!!

Fair play to the young lad for not saying owt back (at least not in public anyway)

I hope he does really well at the end of the month and shows that arse how to do it...

You would think by the age difference, the older one would have a little more decorum...He should be setting an example, not trying to pass the book, spesh when he is part of a team, what is made to look weak due to his childish comments, oh it werent me mum, it wer him
