Hi, Mc Lenni was moaning about Mc Magika for some stupid reason, i think he was calling him a pirate or whatever, I used to like Mc's back in the day as they got the crowd going, but unfortunatly they thought they were bigger than the Dj's, and I also think they are the reason for all the trouble that came into the scene from 1994 onwards, in my opinion this was down to them.

Anyway I'll get off my Soap Box now, Did anybody go to Andromeda 5 ?

there were a couple of good ones mate, mc's like man parris and joe peng understood that less is more, a few comments now and again are fine.

what i didn't like about mc's was that most of them (like Lenny) just spouted meaningless bollocks non-stop, and ruined all the tunes

best bit of mc-ing i ever heard was joe peng during sasha's set at universe in '92. the "nice and easy lemon squeezy" bit never fails to make me smile :D

only got this one by sasha + mc gobshite (lenny i think but i'm crap at id'ing mcs cos i hate em), think it's one of the andromeda nights but i'm only saying that cos the mc mentions it. maybe someone else can give a better id. funny i don't remember him playing at the andromeda nights, but turned up a bit late for both of them so he could have played early.

sound quality a bit crap but nice tunes.

Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

Yeah interesting comments.

Regarding Magika and Lenni, Lenni always slagged off Magika for being a pirate, ie stealing other people's lyrics.
I think he had a point, Magika was a bit of a fraud and didn't really have any lyrics or sense of timing to speak of.

Then again, whatever happened to the original acid house ethos of love, peace and unity eh?!

Lenni and Bassman did seem to have attitude problems, and definitely bigged up adbwoy gun culture too much for my liking.

Lenni seemed particularly intolerant of anything that wasn't drum n' bass orientated around late 92 onwards, whether that mirrored or helped drive the split in the scene I couldn't say - obviously there were lots of factors involved at the time.

Makes me sad personally the way it all ended up - guess the idealism of 'play whatever to whoever' was never gonna last eh, people politics and personal agendas seem to spoil everything in the end!

i think your right there mate, in the early days there seemed to be a nice mix of tunes between hardcore, techno and mellower house, but after a while it all started to sound the same to me. maybe the mc's had there part to play in that

i couldn't comment on the politics though, or what happened after 92, cos i had pretty much lost interest by then, and moved on to the house scene :)

Andromeda 5

Andromeda 5 was my first Rave at the Institute in Birmingham it was only a tenner and it fukin blew me away. I recall dancing to Mickey Finn (who that set nobody can beat) & Mc Spyda who i never heard before, and he was wicked, he really got the crowd going, i was first introduced to the motor-way called the M25 that night if you know what I mean :) wow what a night I would never forget it. Alex you will be pleased to know that I've got all the sets from the night on tape Fabio & Slipmatt, Mickey Finn & Grooverider, Rat Pack & Stu Allen which i will upload when i get chance, I'm still after the Kenny Ken set which i dint think was recorded that night i don't think they did a video of the night if they did i would love to see it. I used to go with my mate Ken a Japanese lad every week, were both on the Andromeda 6 Video (its very funny).

Regarding themanlikepayne comments i think are very interesting and also very true, you cant pin point one reason for the downfall of the scene on one particular thing, but i do feel that people like Bassman & he's crew (who i loved ) didn't help with the kind of lyrics they broadcasted !
