Hope someone can help me here, i've got a guy from abroad wanting to buy a tune off me and he wants to pay via IBAN money transfer, he's asked for my IBAN + BIC numbers, my name and where i live............my question is does he need all this info:confused: just can't understand why he'd want or need to know where i live:confused:

Thanks in advance...

Matt:thumbsup:

He wouldn't necessarily need to know where you lived, but would get that info from the return address on the reverse of the parcel anyway i guess. Just remember that most banks will charge you a small fee for the transaction. I think i was charged about a quid on an 11 pound transfer some time ago. Ed

I think the charge could be their end rather than yours. You need to phone your bank to get your IBAN details - you don't need to set up a new account or owt though, your existing account already has an IBAN number.

It's mad because for us to send money (From the UK to Europe) we face fairly hefty bank charges. These don't apply on the continent. I've had to explain to a few sellers who've requested bank transfers as payment that we get charged at least £10.

I get a lot from Germany and they always work out aright - as you say they are free if trading in euros

That's why most mainland Europeans think that Paypal is for dicks (which it is) - £ bank transfers are free in the UK, but everyone has been brainwashed into using Paypal :fekked:
