Well your pic is an avatar and it needs to be a specific size. If you need to resize it i recommend good old basic windows paint.
resize it to the permitted size the"Resize" option in the Image tab, save it then add it
As Butty says in your CP, Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 300 by 300 pixels or 146.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
so there ya go , then go to CP, profile picture, browse, find on your pc and add
