My son got a laptop from skool intended to get all the paupers (like me) who dont have internet access at home on line, and they do emphasise that its meant for the whole family to use. :)

The only trouble is because its from skool most of the sites i want to go on are blocked (no i don't want porn sites!!!) which is extremely annoying to say the least. i have administrator privileges which is password protected and my son uses the student profile. Obviously i dont want him to get on dodgy sites but i was wonderin if anyone knows how i can bypass the blocks????

My friends son also got a laptop from skool but because she lives in a different area and is under a different council hers doesnt have any blocks. How peed off am i?

I've tried pinging the address of certain blocked sites but this doesnt seem to work and all the proxy sites are blocked too, does anyone have any ideas to help me - pleeeeease?

Thanks for tryin but when we first got it pop ups were turned on n it took me months to realise you cud get them turned off!! thick as fook me when it comes to technical stuff (generally clueless about most things actually). I know i could just wipe it clean and set it up again but not sure if they'd have a way of telling that i'd done that?

Does it have Windows Vista on it? Parental Controls and Content Advisor might be configured even on the Administrator login.

You can check this in Internet Exporer / Tools / Internet Options / Content

isp is t-mobile. not read the faqs but have tried to remove the n.i. program and it needs a password - it was already set up by the laptop provider. have tried pinging through the c prompt to get the ip address and, for facebook for example, i can get the login page but then it says web page unavailable??

Is it on loan or do they just give them away? Does the school pay for the net as well?

Just curious, first I've heard of this.
