awwww, happy hardcore gets a bad rep off u oldies (its not donk btw debs-thats a completely othger type of music, bouncy house/scouse house-only chavs listen to it,generally at wigan pier, maximes etc:S ) I wouldn't listen to hardcore now , but it's what got me raving, so im fond of it. I love oldskool hardcore too. I suppose u had to be 14 and listening to hardcore to appreciate it. I would hate it too if I'd only just heard it now lol...if it was a colour it'd glowstick puke hahaha...even i know that. But when ur young (i was 16 when i started raving, n didnt take drugs) but you love fast hard music when ur that age-it's suits ur energy. i'd rave alllll night-none stop sans drugs too, buzzin off the tunes (whistle crew) hahaha. best times ever i sware!.

It's weird, I can see how my tastes in dance music have grown into what i like today. I generally like more meaty stuff, with bollocks. I came from DnB, hardcore etc...when i listened to oldskool, it was techno/hardcore and heavier stuff, bit off acid thrown in. I love techno still, and this is my main choice of music when im out...although too many people don't know how to play it.

music is the bollocks-i LOVE pretty much everything, appart from funky house,"indie" (think kieser chiefs)fucking shiiiite get some real rock music down u, u students (im a student, but not the usualy kind i suppose)....er, pretty much love everything else. how can u not?

lol "you younguns" hahahaha:p . hardcore (of the happy variety) ended about a decade ago...its gone crazy since then (n i dont like it lol-thats what got me into oldskool/drum and bass coz the hardcore when shite (or trancecore as its apparently now known)).but I will always have a fondness for things I was once obsessed with i suppose...

You probably like alot of the same stuff i do (ur a bit of an ibiza vet rn't u?) bitta techno/house etc lovely driven electronic beats with a crackin bassline????...even when i was younger, upstairs at hazy was more my style than the stuff going on downstairs...

Do you think maybe there is a bit of underrestimation of the younger ones...yes we have our "happy hardcore/rnb crosses to bear" from our past lives lol. But look at Danny R for example-couldn't get a more passionate, knowledgable dude if u tried...n he's in his 20's

I have to say, as Ive got older...my music taste has deffinately melowed out tho. Not saying i just sit at home on my own (pipe n slippers) listening to "mood music"...but, i dunno-i love alot of electronica (electronic music, but without the hurry). i love things that cut n sample, kinda witty liiiike. not so fussed about the crap anymore. i suppose it just has to be good music...can be anything tho, old, new, stuff im NOT supposed to like. Music is just music...if someone likes it, then it's good.

I took the question to mean genres outside of 'dance music'. If we are staying within electronic music, then for me....
techno/electro/ some dubstep (it's generally gone far too 'see how bwarp, bwarp, we can make the bass & has lost a lot of beat, but there are still some cracking tracks from the producers who give a toss about music) & not forgetting 'electronica', whatever that means to people. Tbh, there hasn't been much for me in terms of inspiring 'electronica' LPs of late. Maybe because most ideas/sounds/audio textures have already been covered, but I like to think in my optimism, that there's another great, milestone LP just around the corner.
