Dirty warehouse + great music + big bastard throbbing soundsystem + up for it people + the vision to do it & make it happen + 2 fingers up to dibble & the powers that be = the power to change the world
in this day and age (post CJA) you need private land and landowners permission, ideally. Then, if dibble do turn up (chances are they will - if its kicking) the only thing they can stick you with is public nuisance and, in my experience this year they will happily let it run until midday follwoing day. Speaking purely from a Gloucs/Somerset angle...
You deffo need to have it on private land with owners permission some were out in the sticks...farmers are your best bet.... Organise it with ppl you trust,good secruity is essential & keep it hush hush ... go public about 7days or less before the actual night...

Do people still do that thing with the raffle tickets when it comes to gettin around the alcohol licensing laws?
Im sure you could give legally give alcohol as prize without a bar licence and all that nonsence, when you buy a raffle ticket.
I'd like to know lil things like this, or speak to someone who's actually thrown a "rave".

You can still have a 'bar' just have to make sure their isnt a tarrif as such. One way of getting around it is having a 'donation' price list.....

the underground put in a nice little marketable package for the pop generation...deadmou5 bleughhhhh. nice movie like-no denying, but it kinda misses the point..."bye mum, bye dad, just off to the local 'illegal rave' back around 12"...i think not.
What I love about free parties, is the raw atmosphere-the specialness of it-there is only you, and the other people there (out of the rest of the world) who are enjoying this time right now...and generally you get better choice of music than u do in clubs.
someone mentioned (on another thread) sommat that made me laugh-about being a "boot tart" It brought back floods of memories...i never did it-it was generally a job for the boys-the messy ones at that hahahaha

speak to dj m jaxx m8... he has parties outside not necessarily on private land either - there are ways and means round it
but he knows his shiz - we are planning pulling off a small gathering next yr not on private land but itll be hush hush and not posted anywhere on the internet that has public viewings Lozzie

I'll have to drop him a line, it's something that I really want to do. I wasn't old enough to go to one in the 90's and nothin in clubland can satisfy my warehouse cravings haha.
If you speak to him in the mean time, let him know I was asking please.
If you are organising a bona fide all welcome free rave/party watch your back at all times. Expect tapped phone lines and internet survailance.
Be prepared to risk loosing sound equipment to the authorities, and have a plan for this.
Its a fantastic thing when it all goes right
, but a total ball ache if the police get a grip of you or your kit .
As a general rule if the site is private with permission, no one can see or hear it and its safe access etc then so long as only the right people know and no one complains you should be ok.
Look into TEN applications(but you then need SIA security etc) if you have a site to rent, they cover partys of up to 499 and give you the legal cover to enjoy the event yourself

Thanks for the advice mate, I've been reading up alot on this like. Just wanted to speak to people who have actually thrown a succesful one. You wouldn't think It could be pulled of these days, the way the goverment has clamped down on just about fuckin anything fun.

Worth a read that like, some interesting articles there it does say about them TEN's aswell. Wish it was still like the old days though, where there would be huge convoys of cars followin eachother to some shady industrial estate haha
successfull partys require a special set of circumstances, people, planning and good fortune.
Talking to people who have put on sucessfull ones is important, but dont ignore the experience of those who have had problems also.

Having said all that, there is no experience on the club scene to compare to a big fuck off free party, and it is an amazing buzz if you are partialy responsible for its happening(so i heard).
If I were u id go check out what established soundsystems are doing, and get some experience as a punter first
