Whats happened to Discogs these days?

Its turned into a pile of steaming dog crap!

Discogs is now full of the same old dealers trying to sell the same old records, dont they get the message, they are too expensive and to sell their stock they need to reduce their prices. I used to be able to strike some realy good deals with people with both sides being happy, not now!

I have come across this joker todayromainlg - Discogs Marketplace , he has 10 records I want for a mere 1200 Euros total and that includes mint records with writing on the labels.....not mint in my books.

Im also NOT signing up to Discogs improvements as they simply dont work with pages crashing and the new layout being crap....its a database, leave it alone and stop trying to fill it full of images and new digital releases!

Thats my rant for today, should be better now

Yeah its a nightmare.. One thing thats always pissed me off about Ogs is the lack of postage rules. Waited weeks for some wax to show up. I don't use it anymore to be honest.

Same kinda problem Facebook has in my opinion. They dont seem content with offering the basics - they have to jazz it up at the loss of the original service..

Sold my first record on discogs this week and had a very bad experience

I know the tune was accurately graded, cause I’d checked it prior to mailing and had only bought it a few months back as NM myself!!! (but it was the wrong tune, so decided to resell it). I’ve been nothing but nice to him as well, very courteous and offered him a refund + postage and let him keep it… but he still gave me negative and harsh feedback!!!

He's got 100% positive feedback so dont know what his problem is. Am hoping discogs will delete the negative feedback. This has really stressed me out.

I find discogs prices not too bad,it depends were you look,what annoys me ya can get a good tune for a quid and find postage at £3.50,also it would be good if ya could buy job lots as ya can on ebay.

My Ogs postage i cap at £2.50 then 30p for a mailer so its sent secure and this genuinely is an additional cost nowadays. Each extra record is £1.00 and orders of records 10 upwards get capped at stadard £8 postage no more fees upto 25 records.

The problem is it used to cost 88p for a 2nd class record it now costs £1.95 and postage increases beginning of next year of 15% on small packets will then outweight actually buying vinyl because as u say cheap records cost a lot due to postage.

just been on ebay, gone thru all the 12" tunes ending in the next 2 hours. ebay has just turned into a list of tunes nobody is gonna buy. Most are just throwaway run of the mill club fodder from the last 10 years..... the odd classic tune is just overpriced. £35 for Manix - Manic Minds... well it will just keep getting relisted with all the other unsold relisted records

Discogs is going to go a similar way, with the only records left for sale being in Spain because nobody wants to pay 10 - 15 euro postage for a single 12" lol

I was working in his area too and he refused me to collect in person even though i was willing to take 38 tunes off him.... madness!!

I know this is a wee bit late in the day but I haven't been on this site for a wee while.

How did you get on with Discogs regarding your feedback?


A few years back I bought a tune on CD single off this lad in Holland and when I paid for it he mentioned it was the vinyl version and not the Cd version that I was after. He offered me a full refund if I didn't want the Vinyl version. I sent him a reply saying that I already had the vinyl in my collection and that I'd like a refund as it was the CD version I was after. I was polite in my reply to him and I thought he was ok with the situation as well but when I got his second follow up reply he want all arsey with me and said that I'd originally paid for the vinyl version. After a few replies I eventually got my refund but I also got left negative feedback by him claiming I was at fault for the mix up when it was him that listed the vinyl as the CD single. Luckily for me I had kept all the mail from the transaction and sent them to Discogs along with the low down on what had happened and I got the the feedback removed by them.

If you haven't been in touch to the Discogs beaks, I'd give them a shout fella.
