Just out of curiosity really....
What was it like in the schools you went to? If this makes sense...
I mean as in : We went into three different schools :
Primary: (age 5-11) Infants/Top Infants/Juniors
Secondary:
(Middle I suppose)(Age 11-14) : 1st/2nd/3rd Year
then a different one
(Upper I suppose) (Age 14-16) : 4th and 5th Year
The final one is pretty much where all the middle schools from the area join up and go to the final upper school. Now, I have never known different, and its the way it is round our way for everyone, but Woody thinks this is odd and his school was 1st year through to 5th year in the same school, which I find odd Can't imagine having little 1st years swarming about when we were older and 'wiser' and doing our exams etc....
He also found it mental that so many 'rival' schools would suddenly join forces to make a huuuge 4th and 5th year and reckons it'd have been a recipe for violent disaster ooop North lol
Also, catching the bus to school (once primary school was done with anyway..) was the norm for us. The Middle one was approx 2-3 miles away, so you could walk it if you wanted, and we often did, down dodgy shortcuts, or sometimes caught just the normal public transport bus (I remember the fare was 8p lol) and Upper school was a good 12 mile journey away each way. Is this also weird??
So, i'm just curious / nosey ...what did your area do?
(None of this weird year 11/13 whatever shizzle for us)
