It is such a crap way of cleaning records!!

Even water is too thick to realy get into the grooves of a record due to surface friction of water (maniscus etc if I can remember from my school days 25 years ago) To break water down you have to use photo flo wetting agent. So thick sticky crap glue is not going to realy clean a record, just the surface and the best chemical for that is ISO which is dead cheap.

I remember getting told years ago that mixing vinegar with water was really good form cleaning records, don't know if that's true or not but looks a lot easier than all that glue shit..........M

I tried this a few months ago. It does actually work pretty well, but is a bit of a pain. If you don't spread it on thick enough it's very difficult to peel off afterwards. It's also a bit messy when it dribbles off the edge of the record, and it would be easy to get it all over the label.

Effective, but not worth the trouble. Stick to Mr Sheen

cant believe you said that, avoid wax based sprays like the plague, it leaves a build up that effects the playing quality!

Yeah I tried it too on a record that was pretty shagged and it came up a treat apart from the few little bits where I spread the pva on too thin. Got fed up trying to pick it out of the grooves in the end so just sacked it off... Like you say Tim, WAY too much effort!

Still reckon fairy liquid and IPA method is the way to go for all those nasty cracks and pops ;-)
