Any OSA Members Play At Nightclubs?

I do sometimes and it can be the up there with the best buzzes but other times it can be fookin shit!

There are quite a few promoters on here that put in their own nights and loads of dj's who play out too. Been to loads of nights organised by people on here and they are without doubt some of the best nights iv had in my life!! Top people and top music with an ace atmosphere. You'll have to get to one of the nights sometime

Whilst I still cherish those memories, my best one's by far are ones from just being a punter rather than an entertainer though. I personally think you have trouble ever beating some of the nights in certain clubs around 1990-91. Mainly because it would be difficult to have everyone drop their barriers like that again. I'm talking everyone there as well - everyone of different races, sexual orientation, whatever, even the big tattooed hoodlums were completely loved up like everyone else - you could go and get a big hug off any of em if you so wished
So I wouldn't feel too bad about not having been to a nightclub yet, because most people haven't ever experience that cracking time either

One of the worrying things about mdma is the fact that you open up. Its ok if everyone else is on it but if youre the only one it could lead to trouble...

^^^What they said. I hate to sound like an old fart but the reasons I loved clubbing so much seem to have disappeared.
Example? Last Saturday I went to Cream Classics at the Rainbow in Birmingham. It was absolutely packed, and it didn't feel like there was a lot of love in the room. People literally barging into you. A large fight kicked off on the dance floor of the room we were in. Earlier on I was chatting to some guy with a big, but slightly menacing smile on his face. "I got into two fights earlier but now all I can think about is love" he said, showing me the cuts on his fingers that had probably come from his unfortunate victim's teeth. I was dancing at one point right next to my girlfriend when I noticed a guy getting closer and closer to her. He was dancing right up behind her, touching her, so she moved away. He followed and did the same again. She turned around and said 'I have a boyfriend' - not wishing to point me out and make me the focus of his rejection anger - to which he said 'Your boyfriend is shit' and went away scowling.
I genuinely believe that you have missed the days of the One Love Family I felt part of as a raver in the early nineties. There are still good nights to be found, but you need to keep it underground. The very idiots we broke away from to go raving discovered where we had been when dance music became commercial. That's my take on it anyway.
In answer to your original question (and sorry for hijacking your thread) I used to play regularly in clubs and bars up and down the country. It can be the best buzz you've ever experienced if the night goes well and the punters are enjoying what you're doing, and a descent into nightmare territory if it goes pear shaped

Hey I know Scarborough's not the glitz and glamour of Blackpool (
) but it definitely does have nightclubs, in fact I've fallen down the stairs of most of them i've played a a few jonathon but not for a long time.
the highlight of my career was emptying the hardcore room while ratpack was playing. from what i heard it was dead in there, heaving in the house room at 7am, me and the promoter stood behind the dex smoking a bifter and supping champagne while i played e-llustrious - dance no more for my last tune that was at rebirth in leicester
that was a good nite tho, i can remember a night when me and a mate played wolverhampton uni and we had to play without monitors, the sound was coming from the best part of 50 yards away and we had to try to compensate for the half second delay between the cans and the speakers. impossible but on the dance floor they don't think about that lol
so in short it can be good and bad. it depends on the setup, the crowd and how u feel on the night, i was better in those days than i am now tho, i don't practice enuff now but i still have some decent tunes

But how often does that happen? It just comes down to sensible drug use. I thought it was kinda the norm for you to take ecstasy within that environment, be it at home with close ones or in an appropriate club situation. Taking mdma at bingo is a daft as taking a trip whilst doing your big shop at Mozzers.
Either way, i would never classed the 'opening up' element of mdma highs as a worry tbh, i thought that was why is was such a special drug. Infact, wasn't it this type of emotional response that helped clubber's feel united?

Arggh, the paranoia must have been intense. Would have been for me anyway. Lol i have done it with a few mates at some random footy match when i was a teen. Freezing cold, no music, loads of sudden shouts. It was just shit and a waste of money. I can't even be arsed with drugs in clubs i don't think anymore. Mind you, i don't half like to get twatted to daft levels when i do induldge

I think Harri went to the same night I did last weekend. I took that comment to mean the situation that I have noticed when I've been clubbing in recent years - the scarcity of mdma or decent pillage has meant that the vibe has changed a great deal. There are a lot more drunk people, and a lot of folks on so called 'herbals' which do not promote empathy. It means you have to be a lot more careful when talking to/catching the eye of another person in the club. They might be on the same wavelength as you, but they might be pissed and wondering what you're looking at.
Mind you, i don't half like to get twatted to daft levels when i do induldge

Oh right soz, with not mentioning the full story i thought he meant in general. Just another reason why i don't go out often, or if i do i make sure it is around similar people
