So i've recently been in contact with Rob - i never knew who he was at first and only found out after a few emails who i was talking to. Firstly check out his soundcloud page to get an idea of some of the tunes he's been behind:

rob-jay's sounds on SoundCloud

Anyway turns out he has a bunch of old mixes of his from back in the day that he's never put online. Maybe he thought no-one out there was that interested. He wrote this below:

"ive got masters of nearly all my old sets and mixes , theyre on DATs/MINIDISCs/TAPEs in a flight case and ive never put em online , was thinking of it tho . i liked all house -garage, deep, prog, house, tech everything , but primarily house 24-7"

So i thought i'd create this post to let him see i'm not the only one thats keen to see these mixes online. So don't be shy, if you fancy hearing these please reply to this thread. I'll send him a link and maybe we can all get some nice 'new' old mixes to take us back to better times phones:

I was in 3 beat nearly every week in the early 1990's, I remember Rob well. Would be good to hear some of his mixes, no doubt he got the pick of the tunes from the shop before me and joe public scrabbled round to buy what was left. ;)

Exactly what i was thinking  Thanks for the replies guys, and yeah i couldnt agree more that 3 Beat is an excellent label. They put out some real quality tunes. I'm only sad i never made the time to go down there for a shopping trip in my younger days.

Cheers for uploading the mixes Rob.

lol ! nooooo , scousers used to bully him for supporting man utd and talking 'funny' , so he wasnt allowed in the shop [except after gen public hours] .

I still see Andy every now and then, and he still supports Man U, even up in the North East. And he is still bullied for it ;)

That's hilarious. Did you guys know a guy named Paul Walker? He used to sell a lot of vinyl over here in North America. I remember he had TONS of the UK stuff, he even tried to promote raves called "Better Days UK".

Anyways that's where I heard that from. Alot of the vinyl was in the Balance Promote pool from New York, and they used to have little blurbs on the people and labels. Maybe he was promoting himself as a DJ AHHAHAH!!

I could have been wrong though, who knows hhahhaha!

Whatever though he did produce a stellar 12" that I bought on 3 Beat.
