Has anybody got a spare Rane ground nut, or any small imperials nuts lying around?

I bought a Rane mixer in 'Perfect condition', but once I inspected it I realised the ground nut was missing. It's the bit that holds the turntable ground wires to the thread on the mixer to stop the irritating hum. I've looked online and there's 2 stockist of the nut and only one that will deliver to the UK. The nut is $9 and postage is $25:eek: then there's the wait.

I've tried B&Q and my local handyman shop (who normally has everything) and i've concluded that because none of the metric nuts will fit and because American companies still work to imperial, it's going to need an imperial measure of nut. I can't find my vernier to get an accurate measure, but it looks to be about a 1/8th of an inch.

Has anyone got something that might fit?

Nice one Siman:thumbsup: Because I don't have the exact measure and know the thread type it's not necessarily going to be an exact science getting it right first time. Might be better with a wing nut too thinking about it to make it more versatile taking the set up apart, but at this stage i'll take anything for now to be up and running and if anyone has something that might work and who's going to Bod's do tomorrow night then that would be feckin ace

If someone has a Rane mixer they can test one on first though then i'll be happy to pay for it

If you still need one then I will take the ground nut off mine (ttm56i) take it in work, measure it and get you the exact size out of work. Let me know if you still need it

Cheers easty and Barrie, that's good of you both:beer: :D

I don't think i've time to drop it off at Bods now Barrie and I don't wanna leave it in my car, so that buggers that up....d'oh! :(

I'll see how I get on tonight anyway and bring my tape measure. The threads look pretty tight and i've a good idea what it should look like  :D

   Leaky you bugger. You gave me a bag of nuts then I walked to my car to test them, opened my mixer box to see the thread, then opened the brown bag and it was full of walnuts, peanuts and other random edible nuts:p

I walked back with the bag and you kept the charade going for a bit before giving me another bag of nuts and luckily one fit:dance:

Nice one buddy, it'll definitely do until I come across one that I can tighten and untighten with my fingers:beer: :D

nice 1 jim, good customer service makes all the difference, had a couple of things like that happen in the last year or so:

dropped my phone on the dancefloor at legends last year, someone trod on it and broke the screen lol. sent it back for to sony ericsson and was expecting to pay for the repair cos i had broken it, then a brand new phone arrived in the post about a week later, no questions asked :D

recently sent my sunglasses back to oakley to have the frame repaired, they didn't have any of the original style in stock, so they offered me a lightweight titanium one for the same price as the original would have cost. ended up with a frame that should have cost £65 for £22. Result

I'm peed off with Oakley these days. For me the customer services has gone down the pan since they were taken over by the company that owns all the major brands like Police and Ray Ban.

I've had about 8 or 9 pairs over the years and sent 3 back for repair and their customer service used to be second to none, but after one of the stems broke off a recent pair and I sent them an email to get a return number or box to pack them in, or at the very least telling me to take them to a local Oakley dealer for them to return them as in the good old days before they were taken over, they just didn't bother replying to my emails:jack:

Glad you had good service John, but for me it's a different story:|

sorry to hear u've had trouble with em m8 :( surprised tho tbh, i heard oakley customer service was good and that's the way it turned out for me.

tbh i was expecting to take em onto my nearest oakley dealer too, they said they didn't do repairs, but the best thing to do was pop into vision express and blag a repair box off them, so that's what i did. sent customer services an email before i sent em back, and they were sound with me

Conlons opticians in Wigan used to return mine in a return box, even though i've only ever bought one pair from them and it was never any trouble:king:

Probably the way to go then John:thumbsup: Cut out Oakley customers services and go straight to an opticians, but it would have been nice to have had a reply to my emails as they used to do with phonecalls. You'll notice there's no number for Oakley UK these days and just 1 email addy for customer services - which I think took me a while to find:|
