Seen in the news latley alot around music videos and lyrics and when they should be played

As a hip hop fan when i was younger i remember rap being given a parental advisor sticker which overnight made them massive sellers !

Any way my question is this- whats the difference between swearing and sexual context on a record?

You would not have heard NWA - fuck the police on radio one at 9am or on music chanels all day thats for sure

I dont think any musical genre should be censored- but is it right young children hear and see this at all times??

Thoughts?

The difference between swearing & sexual context????? U really need to ask? Swearing is swearing. Sexual context is everything referrng to sex, including all the innuendoes.

I think he means… shouldn’t they both be governed by the same rules and have a parental advisor label on them… and only be played after the watershed.

I would tend to agree with regards to the parental advisory label... I do feel uncomfortable hearing my niece and nephew singing some of the latest pop hits which are blatantly pornographic. However, I wouldn’t want the labelling to equate to a ban or age limit restriction. It should just be there to inform the purchaser of the content (as it does in the UK).

I also think that tv shows which are watched (for the most part) by pre-teens, should think a lot more about the content first. I don't have a problem with songs about sex... or songs with lyrics that have a double meaning.....its just that recently they are soooo blatant, and overtly sexual... especially when accompanied by sex role playing dance moves, that i think shows do need to think a bit more before booking the artist to perform... or at least ask them to tone it down a bit.

(my GOD, I've just realised i've become middle aged! shoot me now!!!)
