922 spunking quid is the cheapest I can find on the big 4 comparison websites:crazy:

Has anyone had a dearer 'cheapest quote'?

It's getting ridiculous:|

Yeah, it's fucking obscene!

Only thing I can suggest is trying small companies instead of price comparison sites. It seems a right ball ache these days though after being used to comparison sites for the last several years :|

Directline tried again to stick mine up a fair bit despite never claiming for years.

I went to a few sites and then got a great deal with Admiral.

They were cheapest for me too last year Jim and second or third cheapest this time around:thumbsup:

Unfortunately we can't all do anything about the big price hike by switching companies it seems and just have to take this one on the chin, but it isn't fair that it can increase for many by 100% or more in 2 years. Presumably these companies were making money then, so how can they justify the hike, and get away with it?:S

Its all down to these knobs who are slamming there brakes on, so you run into them.. No win no fee whiplash mother fuckers, who drive round with a car full of friends looking for victims. Lancashire is supposedly has the biggest increase and its more expensive to insure your car here than anywhere else in the country.
A friend of mine came to renew his car insurance after not claiming for 5 years or more and his insurance rose from £650 to £1400. so he used his grandmas address in the Gorbals (a dead rough area of Glasgow) and his insurance for the year on the same car was £780:fekked: Beggars belief

I work with alot of the main insurance companies and a great tip for reducing the premium is to add a voluntary excess eg that rather than you pay ie first £100 of any claim, increase this to £250 or £500 as to be honest most of us are not going to bother claiming for less than £500!

Also dont depend on shitty web sites like the one with the annoying rat thing and call insurance companies directly or even drop into a high street insurance broker (who do exactly the same as the websites but with real people). Alot of the time the policies sold by the web sites are poor as they depend on price only so cut out anything but the legal essentials.

Nice on Siman, i'll have a play about with the excess

I thought insurance companies gave cheaper quotes online though. Well they often tell you that it's 15% cheaper or so for doing it online:thumbsup:

I'm confused.com now:S

Rang all the compare twats and was quoted between £350 - £400 with added set up fees of £70+

so rang tescos who did it for £270 all in (inc breakdown cover)

Been with Tesco for years. Top stuff. Cheap, & when some bint in a Merc f00ked my wee Punto up, they had a courtesy car delivered to my work, my car picked up, fixed & delivered back. I have breakdown with them too.

Yes, it is a lot cheaper to go direct, rather than use a comparison company. How do ya think they make money?????

Jiglo, U can get the online discount by going to the insurer direct online, NOT the comparison sites.

£1046 with Tesco Value insurance going the direct route and £1076:20 for standard. I think the one and only time they've been cheapest for me was about 7 or 8 years ago.
