This has peed me off quite a bit as according to these stats I live in the highest risk group for car insurers Car Insurance Postcode Groups - Postcode as rated by Car Insurers

Looking at the crime stats for the area though, they're lower than average for England and Wales (including vehicle crime), so how the f@ck can my area be Group F:confused:

funny u should say that mate, cos i know that car insurance has sposed to have gone up in the last year, but i'm actually paying less than last year, with full protected no claims bonus. weird :S

in fact i was so nonplussed i actually phoned the ppl i was with last year this morning and asked why, considering they were the best last year, they were completely uncompetetive this year i.e. they asked me for 900 when the one i went with asked me for 600

they couldn't tell me the reason why tho, all they could say was " the computer says no" lol

Cheapest I could find was £844 with LV and the average price quoted was over £1300. The postcode risk list kind of explains why, but I can't for the life of me work out the criteria for the risk assessment :S

I just thought this might be of interest to people with cars.

TN2 is classified as A:thumbsup:

Im very fortunate in having a company car so not having to worry about insurance however I would give you the following tips.

1, If possible limited your annual miles ie 5k, 10k etc.
2, If possible dont street park
3, If possible get a car with factory alarm etc.
4, Up your policy excess, if its say £100 then increase to £500 as this will reduce the premium.
5, Allways call the insurance company especially if you are continuining with last years policy. On our home insurance, our insurance co. (wont name them) dropped £105 with a simple phone call......I wasnt even calling to moan about the price! Same may apply with car insurance.

Unfortunately it is the scrotes who claim bolt ons such as personal injury claims and f'kin no cost claims companies (realy!! guess what we are all paying for it now you shites) who are driving costs higher and higher. The stock market being down also hits insurance companies very hard as that is how they make most of their money, markets and pension funds...not annual premiums.

its shite m8, i moved 3 mile down the roadd to a lovley quiet little village, with zero crime and my insurance shot up  it went from catagory A to and E  its crazy really there should be more research put in not just assume the whole area under a certain postcode is high risk,
i had a similar thing with council tax, i moved to a bungalow which was part of a block of 3, part timber the other two were tiny 1 bedroom ones mine was 2, and they had flat roofs, anyway my council tax went up  and when i checked it out it was because the rest of the street were good sized 3 story stone built town houses, i complained and had our 3 re banded, the poor old lass next door had been paying more than she should have been ever since the council tax had started, she did get it refunded though :D but the powers at be just assume the whole street or postcode means all the propertys are the same.

Mine actualy went up when i moved to a lot better area - I rang them to check it - they told me cars didn't get nicked from the rough are i lived as they didn't rob there own. :| :|

As for parking on the road or garage - tell um you park on the street even if you park in a garage - it makes no difference to the amount you pay just a get out clause for the insurance comp if you forget 1 night to put in the garage. same with smoking etc - no difference to the amount you pay, but again a get out clause for the insurance company if you or a passenger sets fire to it..

I can guarantee you that this is NOT correct, I had to dream up a story with a Loss Adjuster to how a guy burned his house down causing £350k of damage because he fell asleep on his chair smoking. The claim was going to be rejected (repudiated in insurance speak) because he had declared on his policy and helath policies that he did not smoke. Smoking in a house is still one of the main causes of house fires although also beware of old fridges, washing machines and electrical installations. If you live on a main (ish) road then to garage the car WILL reduce the premium however being lazy we dont use our garage and declare both cars as street parked.

I was involved in a car accident a few years ago...the other person (who was driving) claimed and got some money, and my solicitor friend told me I could, and would most likely be paid because someone else has been paid for the same incident. I didn't though. My theory is - money isn't pulled from no where, some one is shelling out, and in the end, it's you (higher insurance - like we're seeing etc). So I didn't claim...and I'm not arsed about the money. It's like that saying..."Be the change you want to see in the world"...

To be honest, I think insurance is a massive crock of shit. Someone I know had their car taken by people who had broken into a house where they were working, and they took her keys and demanded (at knife point) to be shown to the car. The car was taken.

The insurance did pay out - but the premium went up that much, (even tho it totally wasn't their fault) that by the time it has come back down...it will have covered the purchase price of the car. What the hell is the point?!?!?!!!!

It makes me mad.

Lozzie, my wife had somebody run into the side of her car about 10 years ago...and I mean run into the side, school kid during heavy ran literally ran into her car just as she was moving off from traffic lights.

Our insurance company settled the claim for personal injury without even telling us therefore resulting in a claim. The school girl had no injury, she admitted running into the car without looking and still we got a claim against us. We disputed it, got interviewed and the police even advised no further action and no claim.......still they paid without and resistance.

Shite..
