Someone on OSA was talking to me about when OSA was much busyer and had more DJs. During the week there would be 30 listeners then at weekends there would be over 50. Now you only get about 5 listners though the week and up to 20 at weekends. I was also told that there used to be more DJs djing though the week now you get noone at all Mondays, Mr Radish on the odd Tuesday and Sample City Wednesdays 6pm-7pm, and Bren on some Thursdays. There are still a few Fridays 5pm-12midnight & Saturdays 4pm-11pm. The 2 shows scheduled for Sunday which are Brock Landers 7pm-9pm and Nupski (fortnighty) are never on these days. When I joined in March 2011 it was gradully shrinking. I'm currently in the progress of getting a slot so I will be able to brighten OSA up a bit.

Do you think that OSA is shrinking?

I think it has got quieter thats a fact- i suppose its hard as more and more peeps have familys etc to consider

Myself i used to do a weekly slot for a couple of years but then work and family make that difficult now

Also loads of people have sold there set ups as family grows

I still come on here and have a nosey pretty much every day i just struggle to contribute which is a shame as i struggle to get on the decks full stop

Maybe thats why most people sell up, lack of time, lack of room or just need the cash ??

I also find MP3 ( im on a rant now ) so unsexy its untrue- i find them hard to catalouge, hard to remember what tunes i have etc- with viynl it was the memory of a night, the memory of rummaging through a box of tunes and finding a gem- the colour of the record sleeve its self you can find it off- these mp3's are just not real- are they?

Any way back to your point i am going to try and jump on sometime this week as i on hols- and on the subjest of selling my viynl im going to be buried with the lot - it will be a big coffin :)

It will get bigger again, circumstances just dictate otherwise at the moment for many. It's a cycle and currently most bods are in a busy bit. As people's commitments get less though (families get older - kids do their own frigging thing and stop bothering us), I think you'll see a re-increase.

That's not necessarily a good thing for Butty though, as his bandwidth and his costs will go up :(

I reckon most other oldskool stations across the net are having a dip around this time of year.I agree on the lack of djs though, i remember years ago when trying to jump on and do a set was a challenge in its self. Some cracking djs have played on here who now dont play as much or at all,the likes of,tony ross, tag,mr ben, pete nic, presuming ed,jiglo, buzz, cano, saysay, woody, shooms, blue jammer, djay, dannster and others i cant rember,oh and me lol, even with that list its a massive loss on the radio side,if it was a workforce you would probably go bankrupt with that loss.Cmon jonathon, get on the dex and bring back the good old days....:)

It isn't shrinking, it's just been heavily diluted by every man and his dog setting up their own websites. The net result is loads of websites catering to a scene that was never massive to begin with. So lots of sites with just a few people on at any given time, rather than one or 2 sites with loads on:|

Facebook has sprung up out of obscurity too since the heady days when this site was very dynamic and busy with lots of people posting a near endless stream of threads, and now for many people, that's their lifeline to keeping in touch. At one time, this site was where everybody kept in touch and found out where everybody was heading at the weekend, or to tell us about some cool place they'd just been

It isn't finished though. Far from it. we still have days here were you can barely squeeze into the shoutbox simply because it's rammed from people tuning in to hear a guest dj playing, or everybody has just descended on the site at any given moment.

And it very rarely ever drops to just 5 listeners here. Granted it does happen from time to time, but on the whole it's much higher than that.

Proverbial nail hit in my opinion;) it seems to have had a massive effect on forums, Back2Bowlers rarely gets anyone on these days and virtualy no listeners to the radio:( I doubt OSA will ever dip that low though:thumbsup: Am glad to say the novelty wore off with me pretty quickly as i'm not in the habit of letting the world know every time i go to the toilet:dummy: only thing i do on there now is post the odd mix and even that's through soundcloud:cool:

Is there plenty of space on the radio schedule at the mo then??? Might have a do myselfphones:

Shrinking?

I only signed up last night mate, so thats one more on the books.
Hope its not shrinking and cant see why it would coz its fuckin awesome!

Anyway, as I have said many a time, size isnt everything!!!

I admit I've been a culprit myself of not logging on for a while. I think it's the downside of more people travelling further to get jobs. We're in a recession and people drive/travel further to get a job these days......which has a massive impact on downtime at home because it takes ages to get there/back. Booooooooo :(
