Here here... to think that Sasha got so much credit for Steve Vertigo's mixing is a joke!

I grew up down here in West Cornwall and had copies of Sasha 9 and 11, which we worshiped back when we were 17 and 18... and thought Sasha was God.

Years later I discovered that they were Grin's Vertigo 'Hippy Pigs' and 'Better Days' tapes.

Sasha's profile down South was given a HUGE boost thanks to Vertigo's Grin mixes (who's mixing back then was far superior to Sasha's).

Someone was very clever, as they must has also realised that Vertigo's mixing was better - otherwise why sell his mix tapes under Sasha's name?

I have an issue with Sasha anyway which goes back to 1992. He was booked and advertised to play at Hypnosis at Cornwall Coliseum in the summer that year and didn't bother turning up. Given the fact that EVERYONE in the South West had copies of Sasha 9, 10, 11 and 12, everyone wanted to witness him playing Cornwall for the first time having heard about his sets at Shelley's. Apparently he couldn't be arsed. Thankful Graeme Park played his slot, and he and Nipper totally smashed it.

Whilst Sasha became well known for his residency at Shelley's (and fair enough because he played cracking tunes), the hype surrounding this guy became completely unjustified in my opinion.

What it makes me think is that there are still sets from djsasha unknown from those covers that where placed with Vertigo tapes.

Probably not, but if there where actually Sasha TAPES with those tapecovers that where disgarded for Vertigos it would be kinda shitty!

The problem was in the South nooone had really heard of Vertigo and it was pretty easy to dupe people as they had similar styles, however if you look at the tracklists there are differences, Vertigos sets are much more ravey and have more old hardcore tunes than Sashas did and i was duped myself, for years i thought Vertigo 8 Love cabbage was Sasha and only just found out now it wasnt!

a lot of the tape buyers on ebay are traders who want to sell them on at even higher prices

I wouldnt be surprised if they are re-listed on ebay as single tapes for even more money
