tap end of the bath
so...the anti-spam software is malfunctioning. is this the software that comes with the sky package?

can you not disable/delete the sky security package and install another from mcafee or avast?

Thanks Ivan. It's nowt to do with that but think it's probably something to do with my router. I've had a play about and am back on so will see how long it lasts.

Sam.. What did you do to your router?

When I first got banned I was decorating so switched the router off and moved it from the studio, when i plugged it back in I was banned. I think it sends a different IP address each time you switch off/on?

Then the same thing happened recently, I decided to switch off for the night, no reason just did then again when I switched it back on, I was banned.

So I performed another switch off/on for a full day and then I was un-banned. I did spend some time looking thru the internals of the router, changing security settings and stuff but really I think switching it off and on sorted it out.

Have you tried this yet? :$

It is a cnut and I feel your pain.

Cheers man, I'm gonna switch it on and off repeatedly like I'm some kind of mental case when I get home.

ok, quick update on this. Was banned earlier today...

So I went into the router web page, you need to know your routers ip address for this and password etc...
I have a netgear router provided by sky.

In the WAN settings I unchecked the box relating to: Respond to Ping on Internet WAN Port

This is what the help sezzz...

Respond To Ping On Internet Port If you want the DG834GT to respond to a 'Ping' from the Internet, click this check box. This can be used as a diagnostic tool. This can be a security problem. You shouldn't check this box unless you have a specific reason to do so.

Anyway, unchecked the box went back to OSA and hey fucking presto was no longer banned.
Coincidence? You decide...
