Thread #2 of Tease mixes.

Many of these I ripped myself from the original tapes, some are from the forum circuit or MixCloud. On this thread I'm just concentrating on the tapes with the two women in orange and blue cover, woman with leopard print covers, and the black covers with the woman lying on the bed.

Most are recordings from Miss Moneypenny's or Chuff Chuff events, but it's hard to know for sure if they aren't repackaged mixes, or they don't have an Mc talking on them, as some do.

I'd love to know if these were repackaged by Jim and Dermott Ryan who ran Moneypenny's, Chuff Chuff parties, and The Depot in Brum, or someone else did...

Kin hell m8! These are trefknmendous! Did you buy all these back in the day or gradually over time! Many thanks !!!!!
The ones I ripped were bought and collected in recent years from ebay etc, as all my old tape slowly disappeared over time. Some of these are from being on the old skool forum circuit for a long time and have been ripped and shared by others.

Haha! Thanks Scott, this just highlights how crazy the world of bootlegs is! What a mess it all is. So it would seem that the same people that put out the Tease mixes also put out the Transmission ones? There are too many too be coincidence I think.

I need to check the LuvDup one. That's a tape that I used to own and ripped.

So the only two that seem to be unique are the Oakenfold and De Vit mixes. Some one made a killing out of this repackaging malarkey!

Please can you share the full Oaky mix?

yeah theres defo a link between Miss Moneypennys / Tease / Transmission packs

I always just thought the Tease tapes were single tapes from Moneypennys double packs, hence the name Tease (I maybe just made that up thou lol)

the Boy George set that goes with the 2 women cover is also a Transmission set

Deffo. I think that the production/distribution company that produced and distributed the tapes did it on the sly. It's the same with the Progress and Hot To Trot mixes... they show up as bootlegs too. It's like they used the recordings provided by the promotors and rebranded them to make more more. I don't think Jim Ryan and the guys are Moneypenny's for example would have known or said it was ok, personally. Basically, their brand was being used to make a quick buck by tape producers.

I know Jonny @chinatownswhite knows someone, or spoke to someone who worked for a tape producer/distributor. Jonny what are your thoughts on all this?

The place your on about was a freinds mum used to work at a place that printed the font onto tapes and I think also did recordings.
He would get tapes a wk or so before they went on sale, I dont think anything doddgy went on there at all.

I have a few thoughts on what may have gone on, the orig promoters rebranded etc to coin more cash like you said.

Or maybe the orig promoters had no rights to the music and couldnt complain, my other thought is they may have been warned off has some of the bootlegers are not the nicest of people are are quite organised in other things..

I used to go to a massive sunday market in the mid 90s and there would be about six music stalls all selling the exact same stuff, all working togeather, so very well organised, they would get shut down then a few wks later they would be back at it....

I dont think we will ever know what really went on...

Fascinating stuff. I love these kind of stories. It's easy to remember all the unity and loved up moments on the dance floor but often I think lots of dance music history forgets that we were all never more than a metre away from some gangster or hustler. And i'm not talking about those of us that blagged guest lists and were a little bit naughty, I'm meaning the proper bad ass mofos. I kind of admire the tape hustlers in a way but that was likely the thin end of a more heavy operation!
