I believe Sarah released these locally down on the south coast from 93 - 95, I have a few of them but not the whole collection, well worth a listen

Same here but somtimes its a fine line, if the tapes a copy of a copy etc, its a tough call if to clean up or not, the older tapes are more of a problem imo you can go round in circles, trying to improve the sound.

What software you using to rip ?

I use audacity for my rips, it seems to do the job most of the time. your right about those old copies of copies they can be a nightmare to try to get rid of the hiss.
Got a bag full of dodgy old tapes that need ripping but they can be a right pain in the ass just to get them to play all the way through! :cautious:

I use audacity to rip, then use adobe audtion 3 (very old but still works well) to edit the wav file, increase volume, cut snip etc, just because its faster than audacity, but I have found that audacity is better at removing hiss, im not keen on removing to much hiss has it effects the sound in the end, all a fine line.

I then use MP3 tag to add artwork etc.

All of the above takes time has you know and thats what some people dont understand when all they do is click DL

Amen brother its a thankless task but needs to be done i managed to stretch a few tapes making them sound like alvin and the bloody chipmonks, i was not impressed so the task of ripping the collection started.

I was wondering how people were putting artwork onto there MP3's ive not figured that one out yet

open the file with mp3 tag and just add your scan of the cover, you can also extract a cover, lets say you got a set off me with a cover, open the file in mp3 tag, click the image and select extract cover
