There used to be loads of people turn up from Liverpool, I knew a good crowd from Birkenhead and the Wirral, all top people who knew how to ge mashed in style :D

93 was great as it was well before they started selling beer, I started going after that but I knew people who were going then and they had nothing but praise for the place

Leon,
Good to have another Bowlers disciple here!!

I started going to Bowlers just after it first opened.
Those were great days weren't they.

I used to know quite a few people from Liverpool and Birkenhead.
All the promoters were from there and DJ Roo.

I wonder if we ever met?

I'll be honest I was so screwed most weeks that I had forgotten people before I'd walked out of the place :)

I remember once sitting next to a guy and chatting to him for 2 hours, he was going out with a girl I knew and it was the first time we met.

I then stopped speaking to him for like 5 minutes and forgot who he was

Oh the shame

Thos were good days, before the place was filled with beer and everybody got moody and arsey with everybody

:( Tell me about it. One thing that made bowlers what it was was the fact that everyone was there for the seem reasons, you could walk around on your own and talk to anyone. The car parck atmosphere was nearly as good as the club!!!

My best friends in the whole world were met at Bowlers!

Towards the end, things changed alot and people weren't as friendly and stayed in their own little groups.

Were you there the night there was a power cut? We were all playing invisible tennis, golf etc!!!

I've been there at a powercut that lasted like 30 minutes but I stayed in the main hall for it so I didn't really play any games

Howveer I do remember the dj breaking the needles on the decks once and it took about 20 minutes to get fixed, during that time loads of people started singing various songs and tunes which was pretty cool

And having a game of tig with about 30 people

Show me another club wheer you could do that

God I miss raving

A few people I knwo have said a couple of places in Manchester are gettign good but everytime I go out in Manchester everywhere just seems to be full of attitude.

I'll have to look into getting a group of mates down there thanks for the info

FULL RESPECT Leon mate, you are indeed right in all that you preach.

Bowlers was the best, In fact if you could ever love a club..really love it then I loved Bowlers:love: (lol..but true)

I was going 93 til 97 and stopped when it started going downhill and lost that loved up vibe which it always had in abundance. I remember when I relaised the way it was going and sad as it sounds, it was liked being dumped by someone ya really liked!!!!

For the first few years though, I lived and breathed the place. So many friends made, such top tunes. Ii had never been in an enviroment like it before and to this day it has a special place in my heart. Its crazy when you start to think of all the mad things that happened and all the stories!!!!

Clare, I remember the power cut, I remember thinking 'GOD, Its only open for a few more hours...get the power sorted'!! Amongst the bollocks going round in me mashed head!!!

Ahhhhh, them were the days chaps and chapesses!!!!!!!!!

the way you describe leaving the place pretty much sums it up mate.
I remember all week would pretty much be a blur or coming down from the weekend before, then when Thursday came getting that pick up of knowing you'd be going in just two days time.

Years of my life were pretty much spent in that patern and I loved it.

sounds good, never went though, I was a monroes in great harwood thing, my most vivid memory is when a bloke all in white with long hair (dancing next to me) stopped dancing when a new toon came on, he ha the biggest sweat on youve ever seen, the smoke machine came on, the tune started, he looked up at me like Jesus Christ, (he looked like that after a diccy biccy or 2) and after he hugged me (Im a hetrosexual male btw!!!!) "I'm goin to remember this tune for the rest of my life, its fuckin tops" his eyes were about 2 milimeters away from mine and that guy meant it I tell you, I wondered what he was on about cos i hadnt heard the tune before, the piano kicked in and I just thought, this is un freekin believable, I was ecstatic.... The tune was this unreal mix of love on love....... I didnt see him after that cos the smoke machine just covered everyone.....WOW... I still dont have that tune!!!

Ahh some Quad heads?

Claire, I remember a crew from wrexham, maybe it was you??? Also used to go to the Pleasuredrome in Birkenhead...
Followed by a spell at either Eastham ferry or Hamburger hill.

The final new year at the Quad was awesome... was anyone else there?

some very kind person sent me one of my all time favorite tunes on mp3.
Its called Esparell and it brings back so many memories of my first new year at Bowlers. 3500 people all smiling and hugging each other as Welly and Mc bibby brought in the new year with this tune. At this point I knew bowlers was special!
It was totally overwhelming and I will never forget it!!

    feeling very emotional now!!!

I also went to hamburger hill after the clubs had shut!! We used to go there after Legends in Warrington (another top place although it is now just a memory)

Went to the drome once but didn't like it!! it was in about 95 and it was so hard my filings were vibrating!!!
An ex boyfirend went to quadrant park and he loved it.

Im guessing 91 to 93, till it closed its doors that final new year. There was always two or three car loads of us from Ellesmere Port, we used to hang around with a load from Bootle/Formby. We used to park in the carpark at the back, the one that was a quid. then go back through the tunnel to eastham.

From then on, it was the Pleasuredrome or club 4, later Wigan Pier. I definately remember some ppl from Wrexham though I cant remember any names :-( Good times well spent!
